FIRNS Project: Biodiversity crediting for Peatlands and Woodlands | IUCN UK Peatland Programme Biodiversity credits offer a way to quantify and finance nature restoration efforts by linking biodiversity improvements to structured credit markets.

The result is a national dataset indicating the likelihood of the presence of past underground (non-coal) mining. The coverage is Great Britain and the scale is 1:50 000. Former non-coal mine workings, particularly where shallow, may collapse and cause & cause surface settlement.

2025 has been confirmed as the third warmest year on record, following 2024 and 2023, in a series stretching back to 1850.

Data from the Met Office, @uniofeastanglia.bsky.social and @ncas-uk.bsky.social shows 2025 was 1.41 °C above the average for 1850-1900.
