Incredibly sad, but what a beautiful gift Lorraine Martin gave her granddaughter, Allana.

A great name
I loved these books when I was little
Another wonderful obituary for the brilliant Alex Wheatle. I'm watching CRONGTON on the iPlayer now; it's absolutely essential TV, the best thing I've seen this year. If you haven't seen it yet, you must - and you must read the books too! They are modern classics.

I am often asked how to get boys into reading. I honestly don't think boys are different to anyone else. If you want them to love reading - JUST LET THEM READ THINGS THEY LOVE! Whatever those things might be, they are the things that make us all into readers. #literacy

Haway the books!
Honoured to have my story - set in my hometown on Tyneside in World War II - as part of the brand new Big Cat Read On series of 20 books.
They are designed to bridge the jump from banded readers to longer chapter books.

This is a friendly reminder that library cards are free, and your local public library will never make you pay extra so you don't have to watch ads.
What a fabulous opportunity...
I know! It really made me laugh.
I volunteer at an animal sanctuary and they've just got a new rabbit called Anthony Flopkins. That name is inspired!
I love this. Their expressions are fabulous
"You are very, very welcome here in Downing Street. As you heard from the cheers on the street outside, you have full backing across the United Kingdom. We will stand with you and Ukraine for as long as it may take."
Keir Starmer embraces President Zelensky as he arrives at Downing St.
Movies you've watched more than six time, gifs only
Honestly, if an Old God is waking, I'm okay with it at the moment.
What an amazing opportunity
Authors going on socials to say thanks for their PLR statement are a reminder that - despite what the likes of Zuckerberg say - people’s work is worth something, and that if you pay micropayments to creators, it makes a huge difference to their viability. Because lots of us don’t earn all that much.
I was very pleased too. 🥰
A huge thank you to @britishlibrary.bsky.social for PLR. It makes such a difference to authors.
Readers, did you know that every time you take out a book from the library, the author gets some money? It's such a fabulous scheme.

Our hope is that this will help rebuild the community from, well, that former place.
This is brought to you by our sister company, @manuscriptwishlist.bsky.social, and will continue to grow.
I used to love watching Jackanory. After the programme, my sister and I took turns being the author or the audience.

A lovely Icelandic term for pins and needles (tingling after your foot goes numb) is stjörnur í skónum, or “stars in your shoes.” A Yoruba version is pajapaja (“kill dog kill dog”). And the best one I’ve heard in German (uttered by a friend’s child) was mein Fuß glitzert. It means “my foot twinkles”
