Brookside. 39th Street. River Market. 18th and Vine. Westport. All of these neighborhoods β largely built before 1950 β would be illegal to build under todayβs zoning laws. Soon, the Kansas City Council may consider legislation that aims to change those regulations.

After years of introspection and therapy I realized I'm not actually that introverted. I have anxiety.
I don't find people draining, I find anxiety draining... and avoiding people made it worse π
In 2016/17 I was a TA in an intro to PR course, each term the students had to write about crisis communication, multiple chose to write about Kobe's rape allegation as a PR scandal that was eventually "cleared up" and not... like a crime
βI present as a woman. I walk through this world as a woman,β Abegg said. βIt makes as much sense to me to have βMβ on my driver's license as it does for me to list my weight as nine and a half pounds, if we're talking about statistics at birth.β
Bars. Incredible.
What. WHAT. Give the buses their money!

BikeShareKC put a new ebike hub closer to my house so I could ride to the BikeWalkKC Member party last night (snacks, bikes and beer!) and learn more about what the org is doing to make safer streets for the community. It was nice to meet so many folks who rely on biking and transit!

The thing about working from home most of the time, is that when I go out I am constantly surprised when I'm misgendered. A person on the street was like, "you *are* a girl right?" I am a STRANGER, stop perceiving me!!
Why won't these buildings just stay on the sidewalk??
This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

I am going to link to organizations that I know for sure are helping trans Kansans. This thread will develop slowly as I either know people or will vet them.
At this point we have not heard from anyone being helped via relocation resources. These exist, but I assume they are overwhelmed.
I'm seeing One Battle After Another tomorrow!
If thousands of my neighbors just died at the hands of their own government and then my daughter was blown up by some chucklefuck on the other side of the planet claiming to help, I would walk into sea.
It is hard to fathom the suffering innocent Iranians are enduring. God have mercy.

ββThe persecution is the point,β said Rep. Abi Boatman, a Wichita Democrat and the only transgender member of the Legislature, who received the [Kansas Dept of Revenue] notice on Wednesday.β To underscore that: a Kansas state legislator is among those whose driverβs license will be voided. (π link:)
Kansas used to be one of the easiest states to navigate gender marker changes, BTW. This police state bullshit makes me sick to my stomach.

βThe real issue is, and has been, even before adoption (of the 2021 IECC energy code), is the permitting process and functions over at the planning and development department,β Perez told The Beacon. βThatβs what Iβve been hearing for years.β Ibrahim agreed. He listed four barriers to building affordable housing in Kansas City: bureaucracy, energy codes, access to capital and workforce readiness.
KC City Council rolling back energy regulations even when developers are saying it won't change other barriers for development. So, developers get what they want (cheaper construction), residents get higher utility bills, and no substantial increases in permits.

Do they not know that tokens cost money? Of course a product would love to spend more of your money. It's like giving your money straight to the casino.
