I shamelessly stole this system from AI: Somnium Files. Do you know any other examples of games that did this well?

Most of them are locked at the start, but you can create telepathic connections with certain characters which act as "keys" and allow story progression across routes.

Crimson Silk has 8 completion routes, each with its own cast, conflict, and ending (+2 transitional arcs). The only way to solve the murder and get the true ending is to combine the clues from all of them.
