At least it’s (relatively) cheap (compared to ongoing bass playing. There is no piece of equipment I would count as “cheap” with bass but I can get a new wax seal stamp for £2 to £5. WIN.)
@silverlininggirl
Late dx ADHDer, she/her. For a character summary, see Leslie Knope, Parks and Rec. Prepared to be way too enthusiastic about a random mix of music, books, memes and science facts. Self employed-this is my personal account.

Oh and also THE MOON, but that’s an ongoing obsession. Also the movie Wicked.
ADHDer here-2025’s first new fave craft hobby is: making wax seals for envelopes with different stamps and different colours of wax. Why, one might ask me? IT DOESN’T MATTER WHY! Wax is life.
If you struggle with breaking tasks down into manageable chunks ChatGPT/other AI will do it for you in seconds. It can do this for ANYTHING. Top tip: in your prompt be really specific about what you want eg if this is aimed at neurodivergence, if you want a min/max steps, need plain English etc.
great article about the devaluation of absolutely anything where women achieve 50%. which is a thing.
Book cover of Agatha Christie’s “4:59 from Paddington” showing an illustrated vignette of a man strangling a woman in a Christmas cracker outline against a peach or salmon coloured background, title in art deco style lettering.

Right, December digital detox, let’s see how long I stick to it (and whether it does lead to me carrying out the academic research due to submit on 2nd January!!) See you in 2025 butterflies 🩷
Book cover of The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander-bright pink border surrounds a still from the 1985 Disney animated film showing the witches of Morva-red headed women, one buxom and wearing lipstick, the other wizened and crone-like in a cloak and the third reaching out a haggard hand and cackling.

I have bought *five* pairs of these so far and only two were duplicates because I lost them #ADHDTax
Current faves-switch2 in green.
The problem with my pattern spotting #ADHD is I’ve clocked subtle changes in use of language, orientation toward me, general pattern of behaviour even if *they* aren’t conscious of it yet, I can spot the different treatment but I don’t know *why*-it would be easier to hear a harsh truth than wonder.
Helpful to acknowledge that unmasking can feel very vulnerable-like a hermit crab who didn’t find a bigger shell yet-and big inner changes can shift relationships too. That’s not to scare younger people-it’s a good reason to find your authentic self as early as possible; it can be harder later.
Also (at least in the uk) you can buy pretty good quality pre-made mash potato. Just microwave it and add extra butter and black pepper-done. If you can buy frozen peeled and chopped yams and you have an air fryer just shake and bake-minimum executive function required.
Starting a thread of friendly little #adhd #dopamine boosts for anyone who needs suggestions-mine might not do it for you….but:
-Soundtrack to Six! The musical,
-Popcorn flavoured jelly belly jellybeans,
-Cinnamon scented candle,
-Walking on gravel.
-favourite detective novels
-new nail polish
Discovered it recently (I know-behind the crowd!) and it’s so good! Just love the dialogue. Still got plenty to go as I’m not even halfway through season two!!
Calling #bassists I have some non-bass related occupational elbow issues (“tennis elbow”) impacting playing. I don’t want to not play for too long but don’t want to aggravate. Any recommendations (*obviously* I’ve thought about buying a new bass, any excuse-sadly funds wouldn’t allow anyway).
Yup - my foolproof plan to win the Euromillions rollover has also - inexplicably - failed.
Given the absolutely embedded ableism in our society and the already heartbreaking impact of inadequate access to healthcare on mortality and lifespan (with no other comorbidity) I’m terrified of what this opens the door to. Our whole society views disabled life as less worth living.
1970s book cover of Aldo’s Huxley’s “Brave New World”. Beneath large political type font in black and red showing the author and title there is a abstract stylised illustration of humanoid but not human type figures. Colours are burnt yellows and oranges, and yellowing greens and blues.

I particularly like how people on here seem to genuinely not want drama and conflict for the sake of it, nobody gets sucked in by some bile-filled rage-bait comment, people just politely don’t mention or acknowledge them-it feels like everyone is in touch with their inner adult!
Didn’t realise how much I’d missed an online space that still felt truly connected and collaborative-the “other place” had gradually starved of the oxygen of kindness and here feels like coming back up to the surface of the water and taking a great big breath!! Hope it stays like this.
