I am blessed enough to not be an American. But would take a look at the situation in especially rural parts of Russia because it’s bad. For example there are a few towns that are literally run by a single company and if I remember correctly one didn’t even have a working road to leave.

2. Why instead of defending an oligarchy would you not use modern Russia as an example of how going from socialism to capitalism results in extreme poverty and the collapse of the 2 largest power in the world?
Honestly don’t really have specific examples but I have seen it a fair bit, mainly on Twitter back in the day. I don’t think it’s anywhere near a majority but enough to be visible.

To conclude. Most people who vote Centre-"Left" to Centre-Right don't actually know or understand what they are voting for and that it's all just neo-liberalism.
A lot of Centre-"Left" voters don't even know what their party platform is and just assume that it's way more to the left than it actually is.
The Centre-"Left" vs Centre-Right beef is so funny because a lot of Centre-Right voters probably agree more with the Centre-"Left" party but are brainwashed into thinking everything left end with the colour red is communism. Meanwhile the Centre-"Left" parties became full on neo-liberals decades ago
