i've reached the Felco / Silky level of yard work
listening to this album and thinking about how i need a haircut
the first, cool morning after a heat wave is magnificent. no ac, no noise, just the sound of critters and watering the plants
woke up with the bridge in "deacon blues" playing in my head on repeat
one of those mornings where i sang along to both "court and spark" and "blue" in their entirety. very therapeutic.
almost five years of living in the desert and today was my first casual snake sighting in the yard
cat in lap, coffee nearby, "sketch for summer" playing

slow down, news. i haven't had my coffee yet
woke up, watered the seeds in the yard, put on a record, danced, sang, cried, made coffee, listened to two more records, etc. i haven't done this much before 9am in ages! it's been a real slog the last few months (years?).
i try to avoid news/doomscrolling as much as possible on my days off from work...always so intense catching up when the week starts again

lost count of the hot tubs i soaked in on this trip, at least 4-5 different places! there was a nordic spa in the mix, too. i love hot tubs 🛁
almost home from a milestone birthday in alaska. breathtaking, bittersweet, inspiring. i own a long puffy coat again, those chicago years taught me a few things!
i learned to read super early and assumed everyone else did too. imagine my surprise when i got to kindergarten and the kids were just making up stories interpreted from the illustrations! they would get so mad at me for knowing how to read. this is what it feels like, living in these current times.

truly feeling a lighter sense of being since i removed the gram from my phone! i have noticed i am reading a lot more essays, mags, books, etc. the only thing i really miss is having a place to put my band name ideas and giggly observations of This World During This Time. maybe i'll write again?
