The zebra in this painting belonged to Shah Abbas of Persia who was born 27 Jan 1571.

It was presented to him by the Mughal emperor Jahangir in the early 1620s. (Victoria & Albert Museum, London

It's (not) funny because this is what was said to me word for word about a career in the performing arts so ultimately I gave up and did a PhD..........

Just putting it out there, while I still have the privilege of a Fellowship for next 6 months, that if early modern ECRs need me to read cover letters, funding apps, article drafts, book proposals, etc, I am happy to take some of these on (with the proviso that I will reach capacity at some point!)

Reminds of the time a colleague said he was "disappointed in me" that I hadn't read Jordan Peterson so I couldn't comprehensively understand whether or not what he was a bad person.
