“The protein powered snack that helps you fight back!”
Happy Squid is the official mascot of the Happy Squid Seafood Jerky Company: a Klingon advertising icon just now becoming popular in the UFP as more consumers look to non-replicated, all-natural foods.

The first #Klingon to reach the rank of yokozuna was Sord, Son of Bok (Japanese name u chuu-yama) in 2358. He reached over 300kg. It was said “when u chuu-yama did shiko, all of Japan shook.”

Almost no human sports found appeal in the #Klingon Empire after 2293. The one exception was #sumo whose focus on discipline, strength, and ritual was deeply appealing to Klingons. Leagues quickly appeared on Qo’noS and many travelled to Japan to compete professionally (1/2):

#StarTrek is about the people and the burdens you can’t see them carrying. THAT is when it’s at its best.

The songs of the characters are the ones you see the in text. Music is very important to the mood for me, but I also want to make sure readers can hear their own music as well

Cool, don't watch it then and move on with your life instead of trying to make the rest of us miserable

If I ever get the chance to ask @ginayashere.bsky.social a question at an event it will be:
“One of my favorite sets of yours is when you introduced your white girlfriend to your Nigerian mother. How would you introduce your human girlfriend to your Klingon mother?”

Oooo good question! A lot of the subsequent books deal with the consequences of great power competition and smaller nations trapped in the middle. Really wish I could have fit more of those into the narrative (like Gorn, Ferengi, etc.) but I had a targeted endstate I wanted to hit in seven books.

Tell Gina Yashere I want to be her when I grow up. Fell in love with her comedy LONG before she killed it on #StarTrek

Probably how much time I spent thinking about what would Federation, Klingon, Romulan, and Cardassian combat doctrine and logistics would actually look like for this series

With five ships: one ends up patrolling Cardassia, another patrols the Neutral Zone, one is near the Core Worlds, one is on prepared to deploy, and one is in a maintenance cycle. In later books, a crisis develops and Starfleet has to figure out how sail them as an emergency fleet action

I got you! A major plot point in upcoming books is the rotation and maintenance rotation of the battlestarships and what that costs Starfleet in logistics. No spoilers, but the Pershings are expected to project power across two fronts simultaneously and one going down is a major crisis (1/2)

I studied a lot about John J. Pershing’s history as an undergraduate. There is a huge debate about whether the arrival of Pershing’s AEF won WWI (US perspective) or if the AEF was mostly superfluous (European perspective oversimplified). Pershing was meant to convey that for the Dominion War (1/2)

I wrote the first book while stationed on the Korean DMZ. #pershingchronicles started with me trying to put some ideas I was struggling with into words through #StarTrek. Each character represents a different aspect of the military experience. Once I started, I plotted an endpoint and kept going

Growing up, he always felt a deep shame that both sides of his human family had once wanted to kill each other with nuclear weapons, but when he was seven, the UFP signed the Treat of Alliance with the Klingons and there was a sudden fascination with Klingon culture in the Federation. (2/3)

You will learn in the subsequent books a bit more of his background and childhood, but he grew up in what several centuries prior had been the former USSR but his other ancestors came from the former US. (1/3)

Yes they do! The Pershing-Class battlestarships are all named after historical military leaders that won great victories against impossible odds. By Book 6, the four other Pershing Class ships will all be in service and each has a portrait of their namesake in the wardroom:
