I’m not familiar with that being a thing but I’m in TX. You could ask the front office about it at your host school. They would be more familiar with the laws.

A helpful thing to remember, or at least it has been for me: in hard times, there will be discrete moments—maybe lots of them—where you experience love and joy and community. It is no sin to enjoy them, and arguably more of one to refuse them.

You’d be surprised how disorganized schools can be tbh. My high school made us go volunteer at an elementary school to have kids read to us and eventually we stopped showing up and they never reached out to our school to ask where we were.
I must echo for those mourning the possible loss of BookTok 💙📚, your local public library is still there and even better! Most librarians are literally trained to give you book recommendations (we call it readers' advisory and reference interview, and we even take classes on it 📚). #skybrarians
