if weβre fomenting rage against First Nations because people are being given two years notice to vacate their expiring leaseholds on reserve land then weβve kind of lost the plot
Iβm not sure if youβre saying the two words are equivalent? I grew up in Australia and it was really clear to me back in the 80s and 90s that the R word was specifically offensive because it denigrates people with disabilities. βDickheadβ is a general insult but not in the same league.
This is a nice burst of good news - thanks for sharing!

Really interesting overlap with OHS issues.
Anti-trans issues are often underreported so Iβd definitely recommend adding @celeste.lgbt for her updates as well.
I thought the attempt to repeal the entire BC HRC would have made its way into national awareness before safe injection site issues. Always strange to see how different people have different information ecosystems.

Did you also come to this conclusion when she attempted to repeal the entire Human Rights Code in order to remove rights from trans people?
I'm looking to speak to Ottawa parents who are concerned about their kids' safety online, particularly around hate content and the manosphere. Email me: ptran@postmedia.com. Signal also available upon request #ottawa #cdnpoli
Sir Humphrey has the answer for everything.
Well, it always has been. I would probably advise someone with less experience to just download rather than face that chaos! π©·
Iβm currently annoyed at Vail because my child was seriously injured in a lesson and missed a week of school and will have ongoing physio and be on crutches for ages. So Iβm just not particularly impressed with them at the moment and this poor womanβs letter really struck a chord.
Also, all the best to this letter-writerβs husband, and hoping he doesnβt have any issues getting WSBC coverage for his injuries.
The most interesting part of all of this (IMO): if Vail as employer is aware of skiers acting recklessly, which puts instructors (employees) at higher risk of serious injury, have they taken sufficient steps to reduce that risk u der OHS obligations?
Yukon is the same. βRecent actions from the U.S. have shifted how B.C. approaches decisions that merit alignment, including on time zones.β
They address this is the linked article: news.gov.bc.ca/releases/202...
This is the best news I heard in months! Finally, no more time change shenanigans!
May he be touched by His noodley appendage. Rβamen.
ICYMI....
Really should check if your MLA supported this and if they did, let them know how you feel about it
That was definitely in the clarification after I commented, yes.
I was just responding to where you wrote: "Then looked left for oncoming traffic. Then proceeded to turn right." So I read that as you saying you looked left then proceeded right. Now you've added that you looked right again before proceeding, which wasn't in the comment I was replying to. π€·ββοΈ
So are you saying you didn't check and look right again before starting to move your car from the stopped position? Bingo, found the problem. ALWAYS look right again before proceeding through a red on a right-hand turn. Pedestrians can be annoying, but this was preventable.
Peter MacKinnon with an absolutely inane piece about EDI hiring opens by noting that 'affirmative action' is discriminatory and against section 15(1) of the Charter. He fails to note section 15(2) of the Charter, which EXPLICITLY PROTECTS AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICIES. nationalpost.com/opinion/pete...
I'm sorry. Hugs. Solidarity. And, of course, take the time for a healthy scream into the abyss as and when needed. <3
Here is the BCHRT decision in issue, which (contrary to disinformation which is circulating widely) balances Charter rights and analyses each statement to determine whether it meets the high threshold of hate speech: www.bchrt.bc.ca/law-library/...
If our elected MLAs cannot inform themselves before introducing or voting on legislation, and treat fundamental human rights with such cavalier contempt, what hope do we have to uphold the rule of law?
A brief review of MLA Armstrong's remarks introducing Bill M233 demonstrate clearly that she hasn't read the BCHRT decision in Neufeld, and doesn't understand the role of the BC Human Rights Commissioner or the Tribunal.
For anyone who hasn't been following just how extreme the disinformation campaign against fundamental human rights has become, there are 37 BC MLAs who today voted to abolish the entire Human Rights Code.
