Weeks-long Timmy Chalament opera/ballet "scandal" shows how addicted everyone has become to being outraged. People are just licking crumbs off the empty bag now.

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!

Turns my stomach to see cities with millennia of history flattened by United States and Israel, two of the fakest countries in the world.

Some personal news. Scored a VHS copy of this horrible cut-n-paste superhero movie by Godfrey Ho.

glad to hear the TFCA’s president has resigned over this, but the idea that they just happened to cut the few seconds of Tailfeathers’ speech where she mentioned Palestine because the show was running long does not come close to passing the smell test

You see Jon Stewart in a suit sitting at a news desk, and you naturally think, β€œWell, this is clearly a serious man. The news is serious. He’s wearing a suit.” But then you’ll never believe what happens next…

Elle-MΓ‘ijΓ‘ Tailfeathers is returning her TFCA award best supporting performance in a Canadian film, following the organization's decision to censor her acceptance speech during Monday night's gala.

Here are excerpts from Elle-MΓ‘ijΓ‘'s email to the TFCA, shared with permission.

"To the membership and executives of the Toronto Film Critics Association;

Firstly, I would like to thank the TFCA for recognizing my performance in Melanie Oates’ beautiful film, Sweet Angel Baby. Playing Toni was one of the highlights of my career and I am deeply proud of that film and all that it offers; especially as a queer Indigenous woman. As a filmmaker, I also have profound respect for the work of film critics so I do not take this recognition lightly.

Regretfully, I am writing to inform you that I will be returning the award due to the TFCA leadership’s choice to censor my words on Palestine. I was unable to attend the gala in Toronto so I sent in an acceptance speech by video. The following statement was removed from the video - When we were shooting Sweet Angel Baby, October 7th happened and it changed everything. I just want to say that my heart continues to be with the people of Palestine who are experiencing this ongoing genocide and thank you to anyone in this industry who’s been brave enough to say anything."

Absurd. Via @justsayrad.bsky.social on the hellsite, The Toronto Film Critics Association censored lle-MΓ‘ijΓ‘ Tailfeathers acceptance speech because she mentioned Palestine. Both weird and pathetic!

Stumbled upon an incredible episode of β€œYou Bet Your Life” on Tubi. Groucho’s guests include 1) Beloved Hollywood monkey-man Ray β€œCrash” Corrigan, and 2) Plan 9 from Outer Space star Joanna Lee!!!!

Worth noting he gave Wakefield Poole’s gay porn classic Bijou 100% on the Peter-Meter. He is a land of contrasts.

Best movies of 1975? Well, obviously there's Jeanne Dielman, Nashville, Jaws, Barry Lyndon. Can't forget India Song, Love and Death, Mirror, The Passenger. Oh, and Salo! Monty Python and the Holy Grail! But we can't forget Shivers. Mandingo. Framed. Xala. Sholay! Terror of Mechagodzilla! Dolemite!!!
