bandcamp and audacious
A question I often get: "So what's a Dialogue Lead? What is it you actually do?" I'm happy to break it down:
Game audio can be divided into three categories; music, sound effects, and dialogue. On the dialogue team our priority is to ensure that all spoken content sounds believable and immersive.
This was a great read. Thank you!
wishlisted. Looking forward to it! It looks relaxing and fun.
I'm curious what were the gaps you encountered for your workflows? App support (DAW and/or plugins, fmod/wwise, audacity), other?
Congratulations on this dream fulfilled! Well-deserved.
New selling point for solo/indie or smaller studios? 😅 "This game was made with a low carbon footprint of approx. xxx tons of CO2"
Might be doable today with vulkan + compute shaders. Write simulation buffer to gpu frame buffer w/ imageStore, compositor comp shader writes to swapchain img viewport. 0 draw calls, only dispatches. No messing with UV coords, just integer indices. Tempted to try a Noita-like PoC ...
creativity is the process, not the final product. You're eliminating the process from the equation.
Don't disagree. For my 1st game (janky and artsy by design), I'm going to try free + PWYW on itch. It could eventually make sense to put on big corp stores (algs are not friendly to my niche experimental game), but I likely need a fan-base approach instead (to bootstrap at least).
we'll burn it to the ground and create a new internet, preferably one that advertisers and privacy violators cannot ruin
hopefully the cc processors don't catch wind of it. Begs the question if there is a better way to distribute weird/artsy games.
I would hope these store fronts could at least provide weird/artsy area with "might make you question your assumptions, disrupt your auto-pilot existence" warnings.
void. rolling release but stable, never had a breakag. runit > systemd/sysv init. xbps for updating pkgs just works.
Thank you for these encouraging words. I like the process, learning, and gaining understanding part of gamedev. Learning from other people is way more fun and interesting too.
Wishlisted it. Beautiful pixel art and looks fun! Can't wait to play it.
Definitely going to continue and finish my project. However, just thinking about pausing it for a short while and pivot to an experimental game jam that emphasizes short game loop iterations and high hits of dopamine for those players who want to maximize their very limited game time available.
Been consistently working on the same project for years part-time, lots of learning. It feels too generic like others in the genre. Trying some things to see how it might stand out, but it is feeling like it might just turn out not fun/appealing.
Yes, in corporate software jobs. Trying to convert a hobby into full-time.
Looking forward to Valve's Gabe Cube!
For a solo indie working on my first game, is it better to try a smaller-scope game that "finds the fun" rather than a high-risk, years-long one? Thinking about pausing my current "dream project" and make a Great Conjunction game: howtomarketagame.com/2025/11/04/t...

Game design is simple, actually. Except when it isn't. Here are the 12 things you need to know.
A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads: Using Generative AI? You’re prompting with Hitler! GenAI is a Fascist Project! Try using your brain instead Don’t surrender your creativity to the tech billionaire’s control
New awareness campaign
a loose doodle of a raptor with the text 'I dont use AI because I'm not a fucking loser'
this 5 minute doodle that I drew on a post-it note is superior to AI art in soul, skill, originality and personality
ANYTHING that you create yourself is

Thank you for sharing this. I got a lot out of this talk.
crossfade_sprites gdscript function that fades in a sprite and fades out another in parallel.
A useful little gdscript function to crossfade sprites.
