I am not sure anyone can see the changes from post to post. To me, they seem dramatic. I'm in a need to dry moment before I go in with more details.

Tomorrow, spring break is over. I feel good about how far I've made it through the painting.

Woke up early to spend a pleasant morning painting.

Thank you for the tip
I just learned that if you put unused oil paint into a jar and fill it with water, the paint will stay fresh. Depending on my schedule, sometimes I go weeks without getting back to painting. This little trick is an exciting discovery.

Sarah Mellow, Maria Christopher, and I have an art opening this Friday at Eiland Arts. Hope to see you there.

I finished sketching for my next painting. While making large-scale sketches allows me to figure out ideas and composition, as soon as I add color, the whole dynamic changes. To me, experiencing the difference between media is fascinating.

I appreciate that the democrats are not in support of the president's actions and point out how illegal his actions are. I don't see how this is stopping him. Every day, he does more harm, and the ball keeps rolling. How will it end? Why do you let him continue? Out here, we are terrified.
Today's progress. Moving through this landscape with some sort of story. Although I don't really know how to read it yet.

Something new I am working towards. I start my paintings with detailed drawings. This one is in the beginning stages.

My family took a quick weekend vacation in Austin, PA. On a solitary walk through the woods, I had this vision of the weaving and connection of earth and human.

I had the best morning visit with Judith Schaechter . It was delightful to see Super/Natural with a few friends and no crowds. There were discussions involving brain plaque and cataracts. I could not have had more fun.

Left, yet not forgotten. This piece has been on the easel for a few weeks. Taking on a full-time job has left me with less time to give it my attention. In order to enhance the landscape, I really needed to develop the figure. I am confident it will eventually come together.

What efforts are you making to stop this administration from continuing their illegal actions?
I keep spinning this drawing around to decide the best direction. Right now, I believe it's this way.

I'm working on this new piece. There are some unresolved moments. However, I like the general direction. It's dusk, and I feel that viewing it in daylight will give me a different perspective.

I am going through my charcoal grey period. Fits my mood.
#art #painting #abstraction
I don't work in abstraction. This morning, I woke up with an intense desire. Perhaps I'll try more.
Sometimes, a painting comes easily, and sometimes, it eats your soul. There is a chance I'm chanelling all my anxiety into creating this. Every decision is fraught with negativity. Remembering each paint stoke is movement forward, and each day is another step helps.

I have been living with this piece for a few weeks, and it still remains untitled. Sibilant is the only word that comes to mind. However , I am not sure it can be used as a singular word.

The Cairn series contemplates balance in a precariously balanced world. What is the thing that will topple our current concerns. In this piece, the cairn is surrounded by fire. A deer looks at the flames before it must escape.
Cairn VIII has found a forever home. While it is often hard to let go of paintings, it is also gratifying that someone wishes them to be part of their life.
This book was written in 1960 and just translated into English from Italian. This is a sci-fi novel in which Buzzati comments adapting computers with consciousness. The book is short 136 pages. I liked it except I found the ending could have been more developed.

Until recently, I never read James Baldwin.Baldwin is the modern American Dostoevsky. The things I love and the things I hate in a Dostoevsky novel are the same with Baldwin. The inner monologs zone me out, but they lead to compassionate empathy for all types of people.

Painting depicts a person wrapped in octopus tentacles. They are riding on the back of a whale shark. The octopus is positioning an island somewhere in the ocean.

Guidance's two definitions seem to be an appropriate title for this painting. One definition is to seek council, while the other relates to motion or position. I find both definitions appropriate in deciphering this work.

Just arrived in the mail. I can't wait to dig in.
My artwork questions human interactions with nature. Asking what if humanity was in service to nature rather than nature in service to humans. This piece was inspired by The Tempest by Félicie Schneider.
I am learning about this new platform by posting this work in progress.
