Antisemitism in America does not justify apartheid in Israel, apartheid is Israel does not justify antisemitism in America, a very simple concept that people seem to have a lot of trouble grasping.

I genuinely don't even think we should be getting into a history of how long Muslims have been in this country. Don't debate racists. Of course Muslims belong here. The assertion that they don't is stupid, and I'm not going to dignify it with evidence like we're in a legitimate debate.
Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and itβs good sheβs gone.
But this doesnβt change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.

Our city is moving forward on a daytime "Urban Oasis" for unhoused residents. It will be a safe, structured space with connections to housing, mental health care, and addiction treatment. And it will include restrooms, lockers, coffee, and dog run β open 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
One thing we donβt do well, societally or interpersonally, is digest harms when there really isnβt anyone to blame.
Being called a n*gger on international television in front of your peers is a harm.
Having a disability that creates that harm through no choice of your own is a harm.
An ICE agent shot and killed 23-year-old U.S. citizen Ruben Ray Martinez in Texas almost an entire year ago and hid the shooting from the public.
Itβs only now coming to light, 11 months later, due to Freedom of Information Act requests.
What else is the regime hiding from us?

I'm not a historian. But I can think of no precedent in modern Britain for what is being done to trans people. The media, public institutions, Government and (too often) the judiciary are combining to attack or exclude a marginalized group and its allies - with really no significant demurral.

BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.
The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.
If my followers have been inspired by the fierce resistance the Twin Cities has put up to ICE, you should make it a point to take a trip here (April through October π¬), enjoy the wonderful things MN has to offer and support our small businesses. It continues to be a really tough time for them.

Please come and support Storyhouse Queer. Bigots and rabble rousers are planning a protest. Stick it to them by peacefully attending and ignoring the protesters. They thrive on conflict and are ill equipped to deal with being ignored
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.
Hundreds of kids are still detained.
Weβll let the childrenβs words speak for themselves. π§΅
For years, a cottage industry of political observers has contorted itself to obscure and occlude the obvious. That regardless of what others see in him, Trumpβs entire political career β from his embrace of birtherism to his hatred of birthright citizenship β cannot be understood outside the context of his bitter, deep-seated racism. Trump is not profound. He has been the same person this whole time. The question is why so many others have refused to see what he has never bothered to hide.
This, from @jamellebouie.net is exactly right. And I think so many folks have refused to see or admit what Trump is because admitting implicates them, or their families, so denial is easier.
By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homanβs strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. Theyβre being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet
Our founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. Thatβs why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. Itβs also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.
Mandelson 'lied, he lied and he lied again to my team' says Starmer at PMQs (describing the vetting process). Mandelson of course bears responsibility for that. But the question remains: why didn't Downing Street anticipate that a known liar would be lying to them?
Truth.

I very, very much needed to read this today:

one thing the trump era has made clear, i think, is that the american people themselves are far more committed to the values of our founding documents than our elites
happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.
Despite the ongoing death and suffering in Gaza, it's fallen out of the news. So today, @thenation.com is devoting its full website to stories from Gaza, written by reporters who have been there. Very proud of the magazine today.
