Question for my #ChronicPain peeps: How do you keep your spirits up, when the medical community isn't helping you? I'm trying so hard, but I'm down, friends. Increasing pain daily + poor sleep = low spirits.

Any tips for maintaining mental health w. chronic pain appreciated. #Hypermobility #HEDS

I agree. I do have an empathetic pain specialist, thankfully, but I am being forced to deal with the GP on this one particular issue. Today, I even acknowledged that I feel a lot of anxiety at medical appointments. Nothing. Dead stare. Zero compassion or attempt to put me at ease.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Chronic pain is so under-researched, under-believed, understood, and (in my experience anyway, under-respected.

Im treated like I’m making it all up. So tired of that dismissive attitude. My most understanding health team members are my physiotherapist and my chiropractor. Both see hypermobility and the real impacts daily. They never question my experience. Thank god for them.

In the last 2 years, my condition has worsened significantly. More joints affected (spread from just hands and knees to now also wrists, neck, upper back/shoulders, and lower back). Appetite gone (I’ve lost 15 lbs this past year). Sleep still horrible. I can’t live like this, and yet…

Today’s appointment wasn’t awful. It also wasn’t good. Still areas of dismissal, and the onus tends to always be on me to push for help. The pain is high, friends, please believe me and nothing is working for it. I’m screaming for help, and it sucks to have that minimized.

Being a grown up and trying, yet again, to get help for my chronic pain at my GP office. FYI: if you have someone in your life who lives with chronic pain, chances are they’re carrying a whole lot of medical trauma. We’ve been dismissed and gaslit by so many, typically; our trust is low.

Having recently learned that I have ADHD, I've been spending a lot of time reading about ADHD, as it pertains to *me* (I've been reading about it for years, from the lens of a parent/spouse). So I (naturally) put books on hold at the library. Do you think I can remember to pick them up? Sigh.

I’ve been having some rough nights, sleep and pain wise, and so my husband has been bringing me my coffee to have in bed, and let me tell ya: it’s a nice way to start the day.

I completely forgot it was International Women’s Day. I was busy doing things for others (this isn’t a complaint or passive aggressive; it’s simply a fact). Lended an ear to a friend going through a rough time and also cooked a birthday feast for another friend. Happy IWD all!

Oh I read this little soul’s bio and felt for him, deeply. I’m so happy he’s found the best home and best human friend ever! Enjoy!

My girls (13, 18) took to the stage together tonight, at their dance studio’s annual student showcase where students choreograph the numbers themselves. They did a belly dancing number. First time they’ve danced together in public. ❀️

Well, we just booked our trip to Scotland for July. It’s not like flights will go down in price anytime soon with ***waves hands frantically*** everything.

I’ve mentioned once or 80 times that I regularly struggle with sleep. I also don’t remember dreams; I haven’t in years. I don’t know if I dream at all, but if I do, zero memory. My deep sleep is poor and I wake frequently. BUT! Today, I remember an image from a dream! No context, but still. Wow.

I went for a swim yesterday, which felt amazing, but I now have water trapped in both ears (not so amazing). Any tips to try? So far, sleeping with head tilted for hours did nothing, nor did hopping and tilting or hairdryer method. I’m all (water-clogged) ears, friends!

This is my very story. Diagnosed about 6 weeks ago; I’m 47.

I am now in a back and forth IT support email thread that is destroying my soul. My kingdom for an IT person who doesn't speak in code! A huge pet peeve of mine: When teaching others outside of your chosen industry, please realize they won't know as much as you and adjust your language, accordingly.

❀️ I pointed this out only from a place of care. Many rapid tests are now expired/unreliable, but thank you for using one anywayβ€”what other options do we have, right? Proceeding w. assumption that it might be allows you to take recovery measures that also would benefit you, if it is a non-covid bug.

I thought I had made some progress, only to be met with a QR code to scan...displayed only on my phone...where my camera is...(Do they think we all own multiple phones or am I dumb and missing the obvious?)

Came to say the same. Lots of rest, Keith...even when you *think* you're on the mend. Stay safe.

If I could get into Auth, I wouldn't need this whole process. Sigh.

Any Microsoft Auth. app experts out there?

5. Sign in to Microsoft account
6. Am told I need to enter code sent to Auth app
7. Re-open Auth app, receive same message as #4

In other words, I need a code that is sent to the thing I'm locked out of that I'm trying to sign into. WTF Microsoft?

How One Small Task Made My Head Hurt (a short tale of woe):

1. Receive request for small website tweak
2. Log on to website
3. Open Microsoft Auth. app for code to finish login
4. Discover previous logins wiped from app's memory & I need to sign in to Microsoft account

I don’t even know what to say, honestly. The damage is significant. The hurt is significant. The loss is significant.

Aw, you’re sweet. She’s healing. Slowing. She’ll eat a bit now, but we’re still supplementing kibble with high protein adds like scrambled eggs. She has a bit more energy but still has troubles getting warm after being outside. So we wrap her in blankets and she’s getting extra cuddles.

I live in Canada, and I feel so much for the average American who didn't vote for any of this. I'm so sorry.
