@chrisgeeuk.bsky.social Globally, antibiotics are mostly used to produce food cheaply and to compensate for poor living conditions. Meanwhile, UK farmers and vets continue to maintain some of the lowest rates in antibiotic sales and use across Europe and we don’t celebrate them enough.
Thank you ❤️
Not a swimmer? We NEED you!
We're running a health study to find out whether people who swim in UK rivers and lakes get ill more often than those who don’t — and we need non-swimmers for comparison.

E.coli, antibiotic resistant genes, chemicals & meds: just some of the nasties we found in the waters at England's designated bathing sites. The i Paper has covered our joint research with @sascampaigns.bsky.social @alistairboxall.bsky.social & river groups around the country.

It's #WAAW2024
Did you know? Even if you've never taken antibiotics, you're still at risk of antibiotic-resistant infections.
This is a community issue—antibiotic use in people, animals, and the environment fuels the spread of resistant bacteria, increasing the risk for everyone.
It's #WAAW2024
Did you know? Microbes naturally produce antibiotics to compete with one another. But since humans began mass-producing and overusing these drugs, we’ve unintentionally fueled the evolution of resistant “superbugs.”
Let’s preserve antibiotics for those who truly need them! 💊
