うん、そうだ、そして80年代のクリアなサウンド、シンセとかの打ち込みが駆使されたサウンドはたしかにライブ盤に向いてない。ライブは雑音が入るし、80年代のクリアな音が好きだった当時の私もライブ盤は好きじゃなかった。そこが60、70年代の音楽との大きな違いといえるかも。

そういえば昔、有名な人がけっこう飛行機事故で亡くなってるという話を聞いて、アメリカってそんなに飛行機事故多いのかって思ったら、旅客機じゃない、自家用機とか小型機の普及が広まってるからだと知ったのだった。日本だとまずないからなあ。
というわけで、この動画をすすめられた。グラミーでパヴァロッティの代役で歌った「誰も寝てはならぬ」。たしかにすごい。

そういえば誰かブラック系の女性歌手で飛行機恐怖症で海外に行けないっていう記事を読んだことがあって、ぼんやりとティナ・ターナーだと思ってたけど、アレサ・フランクリンだったのか。アメリカ国内をバスで移動するのは時間めっちゃかかるだろうしな。でも昔って、けっこう飛行機事故で有名なアーティストが亡くなっているから、アレサの恐怖症もあながち心配性すぎるとも言えない。オーティス・レディングとかレーナード・スキナードとか。実際に一度ひどい乱気流に巻き込まれてそれでパニックになった経験から恐怖症になってしまったそうだから。
なるほどなるほど。ジェミニにアレサ・フランクリンになぜライブアルバムが少ないのか聞いてみたら
・飛行機恐怖症でツアーができなかった
・単発のライブやチャリティイベントなどではライブ盤制作のプロセスが取りにくかった
・レーベルの戦略として現役感を出すため当時最先端サウンドのためのスタジオ録音にこだわった
の3点をあげてきた。
ジェミニに聞いてもブルースブラザーズのサントラ出してくるぐらいだからほんとにないんだな……。。
いや、70年前後のライブ盤はあって傑作と言われてるんだけど、それ以降のがあまりない。
しかし意外に普通のライブ盤が少ないというか。もっとあってもおかしくなさそうなのになあ。
