you got me to give Industry and Vladimir a shot and I liked both so I think it's a good approach!

On the other hand, watching Dracula use magic perfume to force women to desire him took on a darker implication after learning that Besson himself has been accused of rape and sexual harassment by multiple women
Inspirational even. π But itβs also a genuinely great and horrifyingly relevant show, thanks for hyping it!
Ok so I did watch and you were 100% correct! I just finished Season 3 and, aside from the Charles Hanani of it all, it really stands out in showcasing sexily submissive men. Iβm not sure Iβve seen another show do it like this!
"You need to regulate your feelings" another Mariameism that needs to be written in the sky
This is art
Ok that might finally get me to watch
I feel like this is behind the constant sense of paralysis among so many white people who, no matter what happens for good or ill, lament that it "won't change his supporters minds." They're fixated on the people they lost to MAGA, not focused on defeating it
Thank you!!
Do you have recommendations for the ballot questions? I've seen mixed info & I trust your perspective!
I wonder if it's like, people have been so propagandized that the time to really "do" anything is in the voting booth so other actions just don't register? Frustrating regardless!
It's genuinely wild to me that every time I pop onto this website I see everyone still talking about it. Just totally discordant with real life
I do these screenings regularly! If you're into it, you can keep up with them here: www.screamscene.net
I also share a monthly newsletter with horror-themed events around the city!

I'm doing a free screening of Hellraiser in Bushwick on the 20th! So excited for people who've never seen it
Gorn eats man, woman inherits the galaxy
Mine's still new but it's stayed above 60% while the subscribers have more than doubled, so I'm very happy with that. I gather anything above like 45% is considered good, depending on the context
That's a good point. Well, like I said, if the discussion is about transphobia, then yes we all live in that context and that's certainly more important than our differences in the big picture
So from what I can tell, that's not a "tiny difference," even if I don't let it become a wedge in terms of solidarity
That hasn't actually been my experience. My womanhood and heterosexuality are just way bigger factors in my everyday life than my transness. I spend most of my time around other straight people & have plenty in common with them
Gotcha
No I know, that's why I asked if you mean transphobia specifically or the rest of our lives
Like maybe I missed something trying to piece together several threads, but unless it just refers to being targets of the same transphobia, I'm not sure it's true?
I found this through quote posts involving @goddessblade.bsky.social so I hope I'm not breaking bluesky etiquette (I don't post much!) but this has actually not been my experience
I don't know that dating cis people is the key driver here, though it does contribute. Generally, though, my womanhood is just more salient in my day-to-day life than the particular kind of woman I am
I've always felt that this is at least partly because they enjoy thinking of themselves as smarter than the masses more than they enjoy enacting their own beliefs
I feel like it's pretty clear among many DSA folks at least. We want a society that provides everyone the means to live and thrive, a say in the decisions that affect us, and where we share clean land, air, and water in peace
I think a big part of the problem is that a lot of men simply aren't interested in solutions that will endear them to women if those solutions could cost them the esteem of other *men*
This was absolutely stellar, thank you for writing it!
Congrats! π€
