Inducing novel endosymbioses by implanting bacteria in fungi - Nature A study presents an approach to establish and track a new endosymbiotic partnership by implanting bacteria in a non-host fungus and shows that stable inheritance of the implanted bacteria is possible ...

Vorholt Lab re-created endosymbiosis in the lab: injected bacteria into a fungus and evolved a heritable partnership.

Evolution, fast-forwarded.

SWARM is an AI framework for nanopore direct RNA sequencing that detects m6A, pseudouridine (Ψ), and m5C mods at single-nucleotide & single-molecule resolution.
Key innovation: Crosstalk-aware training with non-target mods & validated cellular signals to reduce false positives.

We are indebted to Alessia Buscaino for the discovery that the Candida albicans type SC5314 type strain is an RNAi Argonaut mutant. Her great talk today also shows that this is relevant to microbiome and macrophage interactions and has host niche specific consequences. @ecfg172025.bsky.social

Dissecting the RNA binding capacity of the multi-RRM protein Rrm4 essential for endosomal mRNA transport RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) utilize multiple RNA-binding domains (RBDs) to engage with extensive mRNA networks. Understanding the intricate interplay of modular RBDs is essential for uncovering RBP fu...

Why do RBPs need multiple RNA-binding domains? We show transcriptome-wide that the endosomal mRNA transporter Rrm4 uses its three RRMs to differentiate functional binding sites from accessory ones. Great collaboration with @koenig-lab.bsky.social and Zarnack lab
