The Iconic Civil Rights Protest You Don't Know | American Experience | PBS Meet the protesters who crawled their way into history—and changed how all Americans live.

Today is the 36th anniversary of the Capitol Crawl and disabled people are still fighting for basic rights in a society that's actively working to undermine them, surrounded by systemic disablism.

(This is a corrected thread TY to the person who flagged that I said 26th, not 36th!)

It is horrific that incidents like these are increasing. While, at this point, we know nothing about the motives here, it is important to be clear that anger about Israeli actions is never a justification for violence against Jews.

It’s day 99 of the ICE occupation of MN.

We’re still out patrolling and raising money and delivering groceries to keep our neighbors safe.

Call and ask Mayor Frey to do the same by NOT vetoing Pause Evictions, Save Lives.

Also daily gratitude to all the many people here helping their neighbors in whatever ways they can. (And to people from afar who are helping too.)

If this policy does not pass, please expect to see our vulnerable community members enter the court process.

hennepin county sheriff's office racked up $1.3 million in overtime in jan 2026. commissioner angela conley says they could overspend budget by $15 million+ this year if they don't change course. today county board unanimously passed a BAR conley introduced that sheriff cannot exceed their budget!

Dear Mayor Frey,
As elected officials who represent Minneapolis, we ask you to sign Pause Evictions Save Lives (legislative file 2026-00099). Temporarily extending the pre-eviction notice from 30 to 60 days gives our residents extra time that is desperately needed to help find resources to prevent eviction.
We've all been amazed by our shared constituents' resiliency and resolve in the face of ICE's illegal occupation of our City. Our residents banded together to protect one another, even raising millions of dollars in mutual aid funds to help keep their neighbors in their homes. It's our duty as elected officials to match the commitment in our residents to try and keep as many of our neighbors in their homes as possible.
We look to Minneapolis to lead the way and are working on similar bills to extend pre-eviction notices statewide to help our neighbors. Signing the Pause Evictions Save Lives measure will bolster our efforts and reinforce our message to our colleagues about the way in which pre-eviction notices help prevent families from being evicted.
We've been so proud of the work of the City of Minneapolis to respond to this unprecedented federal invasion. Your work to increase funding for immigration legal services, rental assistance, and creating a small business resiliency fund has shown how elected officials can meet the moment. Signing Pause Eviction Save Lives is the next step in helping our residents recover and ensure none of them are left behind.
Sincerely,
SoaChh

Thank you to our Minneapolis state legislative delegation for urging Mayor Frey to support a pause on evictions. Our city faces a housing and addiction emergency worsened by Operation Metro Surge. A 60-day pre-eviction notice and rental assistance can help keep people housed and save lives.

16/17 state legislators who represent Minneapolis signed onto this letter. It’s time for Mayor Frey to sign this ordinance and support our immigrant neighbors.

Speaker Johnson could call the House back and vote to fund TSA today.

Let’s be clear: long lines at the airports are a direct result of Republicans insisting ICE be able to defy court orders, kidnap and murder people and face zero consequences.

Evictions are far more costly than 30 extra days and it’s not close. Especially when the 30 extra days will often result in landlords getting money they’re owed from their tenants anyways.

This same argument can be extended to excluding black characters, to excluding women characters from certain roles, to any form of bigotry you can imagine.

It is explicitly agreeing to reproduce the existing system of oppression and bragging about it in the newspaper

AI error or not, Iran school bombing is a permanent stain on America’s soul | Will Bunch A debate on AI in warfare obscures the truth about an Iran school bombing. U.S. humans are to blame for this war crime.

They had names. They had beautiful faces. And they had the same dreams as your kids - crushed when American "precision" bombs slammed into their Minab elementary school, killing 175

Don't blame AI for this. Blame the sick humans who see war as a game
