I sometimes worry that too many people think being a good critic means being a self-righteous dick about every little thing and I think far too many miss the point that you can't critique anything if you don't know how to love something.
The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
❤️❤️❤️
Okay, this is the best idea
That sounds really fun!

Cellist Kirin McElwain's exploratory album 'Youth' turns toward crystalline feedback, chaotic oscillators, and intentionally harsh tones to express the feelings of desire and shame occupying the same cognitive space.

Oh, this one is such a treat.
This was a really fun conversation to have. And Ben Jones spun around in his desk chair, arms to the sky, at the start and end of it, which felt celebratory and nice.

If you’re changing the definition of human rights, it means you plan on violating people’s human rights.
So sorry for your loss 💔
I wrote Snake in the early summer of 2020. Human rights were at the center of the cultural mind in a different way than before. It feels eerily full circle now.
We are still witnessing brutality on our phones. There is still a force that has grown and morphed, trying to take away the autonomy of so many: removing access to gender-affirming care, abortion rights, disability justice, Indigenous rights and the rights that protect those from racial + ethnic bias.
This song stems from a righteous anger. A call to something older and deeper than the patriarchal systems that oppress us. It taps into my own personal experiences of not just systemic violence but the intimate + interpersonal kind. Having experienced assault in my past, this song was a way to transform my own pain into a call to action. “I can’t wait for an answer before I get free.”
Don’t stop meaning making. Must keep pushing against. Righteous anger as fuel. Stories as hand holding. My small part. Much more for hands to do.
