This is what I would suggest, putting a marker every 10 rows for example, so you know the first sock is the right length if they're for someone else, or to make sure they both match. Same with sleeves.

I think something weird happened with the algorithm, because all of a sudden all these weird and wonderful patterns appeared on the 'hot right now' 😂😂

Suddenly a few weeks back it seemed that this pattern got really popular on Ravelry, there were so many (intentionally) hideous versions it was wonderful, i would recommend going and having a browse
