Not sure how the Giannis trade saga is going to play out over the next 12 hours, but I do know that the outcome will decide the 10-20 year future of the team. A lot of pressure! Keeping him could go great, or epically bad. Same with trading him. Bucks have missed on so many picks in the last 15yrs.
If the Bucks make a deal that doesn't include a single 1st round pick, the entire front office deserves to be fired. Memphis just got THREE 1st round picks for Jackson Jr.... are you kidding me? Minnesota needs to either get serious, or move it along.
I think itβs the accumulation of 2-3 years of really poor front office decisions. From allowing Giannis to guide / influence personnel decisions, to hiring Doc, to the choice to try to βhang onβ one more year instead of regrouping & retooling this past offseasonβ¦ this outcome always felt likely.
Agree 10000%. Although IMO, unless they can secure some young talent and/or draft picks, they may as well ride it out with Doc at this point. There isnβt a coach in the league who could turn this group into a contender, so I fear the buyout would be money wasted.
Without picks or cap space, we are gonna be stuck swapping out complementary pieces and aiming for .500 for the next 5-6 yearsβ¦before an inevitable rebuild. Why not start the process now, while we still have one asset with market value? The past 5 years have no relevance to the next 5.
And while I love the man, if Giannis is your only means of obtaining those picks (which he is), then you've gotta at least consider doing it or this team is doomed to be irrelevant for decades to come. It's difficult to fully state how destructive the Dame trade ended up being to this franchise.
These are the conversations we used to have about the Bucks circa 2013 (JJ Reddick?) There's no role player or cast off that is going to change the trajectory of this team, post Dame. They mortgaged the future, lost, and this unfortunately is the result. Only real path now is to obtain draft picks.
The absolute LAST thing this team needs is a sideshow. They need a plan, some draft picks, and time.
Ah yesβ¦ snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. A long time Packer specialtyβ¦
Not a huge fan of air travel in general, but I want to just acknowledge that I'm grateful to Delta Airlines for making it consistently "less awful". Even during a shutdown, flights were on time, staff were friendly, and that extra inch or two of legroom over United or Alaska makes a huge difference!
This is what I'm hoping Giannis does to lil' Cooper tonight...
It literally was the worst⦠tonight the Brewers set the MLB record for worst team batting average in CS history (.113), obliterating the previous record set by the 2019 Cardinals (.130).
When the richest, most talent heavy teams in baseball can basically just rest their most important guys while sleepwalking through the regular season (aβla the NBA) a team that has to scratch & claw like the Brewers has NO chance. This team was absolutely spent just trying to get to the playoffs.
The Brewers already possess the NL lead for consecutive CS appearances without advancing to the World Series. This series will pretty much lock them in for good. So many precious opportunities blown in 14 years. Built for the reg season and some summer fun, but not built to win in the postseason.
The Dodgers look bored.
This Brewer fan has no hope for the next 2-3 in LA. Weβve not just been outplayed, but completely overwhelmed in every phase of the game. There isnβt anything we could βfixβ and suddenly be okay in this series. Dodgers are way betterβ¦ they know it, and play like they know it.
Itβs not personal. Heβs simply the poster child of everything wrong with the economics of baseballβ¦in Milwaukee, where the Brewersβ entire team payroll is less than the Dodgersβ luxury tax bill for the year.
Brew Crew, baby! NLCS bound! Woo!
Want to know how stupid college football has become? There was a Texas staffer/intern in charge of holding a giant boombox so the team could run out to their song on the road. π
Ok, so the ASG Hank Aaron tribute was pretty awesome⦠Well done Braves and MLB!
While the team's future is dire, I'm hoping that all Bucks fans make the time to tune in for Game 5 on Tuesday night, and soak in every moment of Giannis' greatness. We've been so fortunate to have this man call this team and this city his home since 2013. Watch as if it's his final game with us.
Dame injury is brutal, of course, but this entire series the Bucks have looked like a terrible team with one really good player. Assuming they now go quietly into the offseason, itβs hard to see how things get better. Salary cap hell, no draft picks, no Dame, paying a slew of ex coachesβ¦ not great.
Itβs currently 10:11am PST, and the 10am Bucks vs Pacers game has STILL not tipped offβ¦ ESPN game coverage is seriously unBEARable. But I have already gotten a full days worth of hype videos, pundit nonsense and commercials. Ugh.
Working in youth sports, the vileness & cruelty of the current administration has reached even us. Parents are afraid to register their children & coaches are afraid to track player attendance via sport apps out of fear of monitoring, apprehension & incarceration. Childrenβ¦trying to play sports.
If Fox News is your only daily news source, you a) have NO idea that 6M people protested in 1400 locales yesterday, b) that the federal courts are on the verge of holding the Justice Department in contempt, and c) that stocks are already down 1500 in pre Monday trading. This is gross negligence.
Has anyone noticed how a significant % of Gen Z folks can't seem to pronounce the letter "T" when it's in the middle of a word? For example... the word "buttons". They pronounce it "Buh-ins". Manhattan = "Manha-in". Meeting = "Me-ing". Super weird, and once you hear it, you can't stop hearing it!
The people you surround yourself with shape who you are.
We like to think of our morals, ethics, and behaviors as entirely within our control, but the truth is we are nudged by those we spend time with. It is why forming the right culture is vital to any team or organization
TBH, outside of gambling, what interest does anyone actually have watching the 1βs & 2βs march through the tourney? People tune in for the MADNESS & without the upsets & chaos, who actually cares? This is also a glimpse into the future of NIL. Fewer contenders = less opportunity, interest & money.
