Oh, my goodness, this is a huge breakthrough in cancer research. This is another example of why it is crucially important to fund basic scientific research.

Not what I said, you are clearly incapable of having a sensible discussion about any of this.

Hope you find someone else to rage needlessly at.

Don't be rude. LGBTQ+ content is often discriminated against but I've seen no evidence of Discord doing that. None of the queer servers I'm in has been marked as adult content.
Queer censoring is an important convo, it NEEDS context.
Talk about what Discord is doing, not what everyone else is doing

If you take the time to read the article you'll realise most people won't see a difference. You don't actually need to do this unless you want to access specifically 18+ servers.
Still sucky as all hell but the majority of people's careers will be fine, very few servers deal only in 18+ material

big bill shakes is goated. sorry but i will never entertain the argument that he’s overrated. to write something like this and have it ring with such tremendous clarity four centuries later would be incredible if he pulled it off once but he did it dozens of times

A ridiculous and pointlessly divisive generalisation.
Well done, excellent use of your time.

"Oh woe is me, all these shows have suddenly decided to become diverse and progressive and I hate seeing those disgusting /other/ kinds of people on TV"

Oh wait, all those shows have always been pushing social boundaries.
You were just too stupid to notice.

Compassion is something the world severely lacks in it's grand game of world politics, and culture these days.

But I've always been able to trust you to hold it fast even when faced with the cruel. Your videos are as kind and fair as I wish and know the world could be.

People are complex, they can hold hypocritical thoughts and be more than one thing
He truly seemed to believe in a utopia where people were equal and problems were easily solved but his idea of equality was of course shaped by his flaws.
He was a nightmare to work with but he was also a progressive

I had started replying the old Republic games before hearing about this one. I was already looking forward to a new one, now I'm absolutely buzzing to see you kill it with this (and probably kill many other things with Nul).

Can't wait ⚡🏳️‍🌈

The wise old mentor dies after a short but extremely effective bout of training for our hero.
All the characters end up in a big fight at the end of the movie with the group fighting the wider bad guys and our hero fighting and then having to escape from the big bad.

It IS a poorly done rehash.

They are not broad. Both start with a battle on an icy Planet. The heroes escape and split up, with the group being chased by bad guys and our main hero off in search of an old and wise Jedi.
The bad guys relentlessly hunt our group as they try to evade capture and find more allies. 🧵

Nah, it was shit. It was the best one of a shit bunch.
A worse rehash of the original three films is all that trilogy was, literally hits the same story beats point for point until the last film where it just becomes a dumpster fire of a plot.

Um, did you miss the part where the natives had to be saved by the invading, colonising white man who only realised the error of his imperialistic ways when he lived among those he was trying to exploit?

The first film is literally a neon poster for the White saviour narrative.

And the Roman republic had a social welfare system and saw more than one attempt to redistribute land from the wealthy to lower classes.

There were class divides and plenty of homeless people under both those systems too but for different reasons and people then wanted change just as they do now.

I don't think the guy understands feudalism or the Roman Political system.
Under feudalism the lord you worked for would house you with enough land to cultivate and protect you. No one went homeless because of sky high rents.

Swen Vincke @LarAtLarian

Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI.

We have a team of 72 artists of which 23 are concept artists and we are hiring more. The art they create is original and I’m very proud of what they do.

I was asked explicitly about concept art and our use of Gen AI. I answered that we use it to explore things. I didn’t say we use it to develop concept art. The artists do that. And they are indeed world class artists.

We use AI tools to explore references, just like we use google and art books. At the very early ideation stages we use it as a rough outline for composition which we replace with original concept art. There is no comparison.

I talked about how we use ML here if you would like to know more:

We've hired creatives for their talent, not for their ability to do what a machine suggests, but they can experiment with these tools to make their lives easier.

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.

This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

Is minimum wage Living wage? Is the state pension enough to live on? No and No.
The gov loves to pat themselves on the back for "improvements" that make no real impact.

Regulatory protection is something this country has always done very well, I'll give it that.

That's a very jaded take. I watched original trek for the first time 10 yrs ago & altho I did indeed find it campy & goofy, I got the spirit of the show. Being campy didn't make it less revolutionary to me, or less impressive than later shows.
Time doesn't ruin it, your perception of the world does

I dunno Jessie. The trailers didn't do much for me. It looked like overly militaristic, painfully heteronormative story beats to me, seems very mass audience friendly. Except for the people upset by the barest minimum of diversity.
