The candy pirates are my favorite bit of absurdity of this universe

Of course there's pirates who plunder sweets while sailing galleons THROUGH the suburbs literally

Polymarket, Kalshi and all the rest of these prediction markets need to be wiped off the face of the earth. They provide absolutely nothing of value and are corrupting everything they touch.

Regardless if it could be a fake out or not, you've basically over salted the dish. How am I meant to keep eating?

I read a character death so annoying that it actually sucked me out of the book and broke my immersion. The problem with major character deaths in finales is that you only get so many. You can't put a third one and most significant one eight chapters away from the finish line. That's biblical greed

We don't know how many voices are lost because men dominate the medium.

I just saw and heard what Chalamet said about opera and ballet, and he was making an intelligent and nuanced point that I completely agree with. Like theatre, like arts as a whole, they have to be subsidised by government and charity. Chalamet doesn't want that for the movies, and he's right.

Appropriate reaction to someone saying this:

See the problem for a very long time, longer than I've been alive is people will say things like this without thinking they could get punch in the face. They believe that nothing bad could happen to them if they said this to another human being. Some might say that should change expeditiously

do I take every opportunity to bring up that recoloring, because it sucks so bad? yes, but it’s also a galling example of straight-up graceless churl behavior towards another working artist for no reason than his own personal perfectionism. there’s another abject lesson there, and not a good one.

charitablity to topic like this leads to a bit of a missed opportunity in my opinion

the demise of the mid-budget movie and how steaming is eroding the industry. I think it's perfectly fine to have a negative reaction to what he said, even though he's been saying it for years he could have definitely said it with far more tact but I think responding with outrage instead of-

generations of ballet dancers have told him things that would lead to him having this opinion and fear that film could lose it's cultural currency. I mean it's not like we don't talk about how film in Hollywood has been waning the last 5 to 10 years. It's not like we haven't talked to death about-

I do find the immediate reaction to the ballet-opera comment being outrage to be interesting because people are like "How could he say this coming from a family with three generations of ballet dancers? How could he disrespect them?" Idk maybe it didn't come from a place of disrespect, maybe three-

I like when people say that Timothee Chalamet has killed his chance at the Oscar as if a staggering amount of the Academy care so little about movies that they won't even watch all the nominees' movies. SOME OF THEM DON'T EVEN WATCH THE ANIMATED FEATURES. You think they care about ballet and opera?

Setting aside the absurdity of assigning traits to enormous, heterogeneous cohorts, the perceived differences between generations are historically contingent. They result from differing material circumstances, not the innate virtues or vices of Boomers or Millennials or Zoomers.
