Although not a head of state, my historical namesake led his followers into battle, so why shouldn't today's leaders do the same?

11th century wild rebel. Fights Normans, sacks Peterborough, etc. All posts fictional. Low-quality humour and random comments on world affairs. Wülferhamptonian. Still radical after all these years.

I think heads of state should have to lead their troops into war, if they go to war.
That would soon sort things out. The last English head of state to lead his troops into battle was Richard III and look how that went for him.

Education Secretary defends freezing the repayment threshold for student loans in England.
Ridiculous plan to align repayment threshold with minimum wage.
Graduates pay tax+repayment at marginal rate of 37%, higher than capital gains tax rate for the super rich.
Abolish uni fees. Write-off debt.
A placard reading “trans rights are human rights” is held in front of the Houses of Parliament
We hosted a panel in Parliament today to brief MPs and people from across the trans rights sector on the implications of the High Court decision earlier this month – and our grounds of appeal.
Every time there's a close election race someone pipes up "why don't the parties on the Left work together", as if they're the first person to think of it, but the answer is the same every bloody time: the Labour party refuse to cooperate with anyone else.
I want to see the police making arrests for threatening behaviour
Remember Brexit? Public opinion on leaving the EU was minimal for decades. Then media, social media etc whipped it up as being the solution to societal issues from fishing to steel to the NHS. Was it? Nope. Its not public opinion if its whipped up snake-oil. Same for this. Same for leaving the ECHR.
If we can’t save our environment, politics won’t matter.
He can't even call Reform's politics of HATE by it's real name.
Much better than spending it on murdering kids.
Jeez. This is awful.
Well done Victoria Derbyshire for not letting it go

He does. How about "Abolish Landlords"?
This guy gets it.
Not too late to pop over to Gorton and Denton, if you want to help get the wonderful @GreenPartyHan elected!

Good morning Wülferhampton!
"40 sex workers in four days"?
Gives a whole new meaning to "no sweat"!
I know we're not supposed to quote Scott Adams any more, but his character Dogbert once declared that "to consult" was a portmanteau
word from "to con" and "to insult".
BREAKING: The moment Peter Mandelson is arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office
The 72-year-old was led away by police officers and taken to a London police station for interview
Maybe Andy and Peter can share a cell?
Good morning to you too sir!!
Just spent two days knocking doors in Gorton and Denton.
Knocking is just as the polling shows. Lots of Greens, plenty of Reform and many Labour.
The self organising of crowds of people from all over the country to help @greenpartyhan.bsky.social to win this was a joy to see.
🧵on the doors…
Now I’m wondering how “Green” is my living room / dining room/ office? Am I posh enough? Too posh? Is it the most Gen X room of all time? Who cares? Which party will tax billionaires and who is bought by them? Go Hannah! #VoteGreen
I have reported this post for incitement to violence
Hannah and Zack having a selfie
Final weekend. One last push.
This is about whether you want local plumber Hannah Spencer or the extreme Reform candidate.
It's hope vs hate.
It's Greens vs Reform.
Hope can win.
Update on "the Greens have no ground game in Manchester" 💪
Yes,it is surprising. And back in the mists of time I did study things like Gawain and the Green Knight and even read a bit of Beowulf.
I just hide until it's all over
"The whole point of a monarchy is you don't get to choose who is in the line of succession," James Lyons, Starmer's former director of comms
In which case, 'the whole point' ought to be to bin the monarchy entirely as it is not fit for purpose.
