Dedicating this YouTube book video to all my Indonesian friends!
Ate my very first plate of Nasi Rawon (shown near the beginning of the video) after I finished reading this book cos I was so intrigued.
It was so good, omg. And so was this book.

aw. so adorable.
life is pain ... au chocolat
Thank you for your kind words!
I'm truly grateful to the kind soul, my friend, who introduced me to Unflattening (I believe it's a local comics lover & Singapore's first graphic novelist - Gwee Li Sui).
And looking forward to your 2nd book even as I read Unflattening for the fourth time in a bit.
and @antingreads.bsky.social's discussion at the end of religion and opening up perspectives was definitely a goal of what I was up to - and so pleased to hear how that went over (something I've heard on occasion over the years). Onward...
This was quite lovely & thoughtful - and the ending really touched me. Also, second interaction today about how reading Unflattening multiple times revealed new discoveries- thatβs rewarding given how long it all takes me! :) thank you @antingreads.bsky.social !
Dedicating my first graphic novel *extra mini* book review (of sorts) to @nsousanis.bsky.social!
It's my third time reading it and I discover new things each time.
(Note to self: So inspired that one day you shall write a graphic novel too.)

Happy New Year Erica!
May 2026 be a wonderful year for you.
I'm grateful for the new book of yours (By Your Side) I got in 2025 :))
that's actually very encouraging to hear
I've often found that there is great misogyny (whether subtle or overt) in various spiritual traditions I've been a part of, whether it might be Christianity, Buddhism, or Taoism.
It is most unfortunate but true.
Am glad that Pamela Colman Smith is finally getting her due recognition.
hi
Merry Christmas void! I appreciate your gifts of kindness and love. Pray tell what's mine? (fingers crossed)

Sorry to hear that.
But thatβs okay.
On that note, now that I have a Japanese gf Iβve been seeing for a year, I find that oftentimes Japanese translations of books into English, I suspect have something lost in translation.
Canβt quite pinpoint it yet but Iβm getting it.
Take care dear friend.
Living in the pool sounds fun though.

A photo of a pilgrim seal stamp (goshuin) with the name of Hitsuji Shrine on it. The paper is yellow, with a pattern of fall leaves: maple and ginkgo. There is a photo of the shrineβs sheep statue in the bottom right corner.

The theme is animal shrines!
First is: Sheep π
Hitsuji Jinja ηΎη₯η€Ύ is supposedly one of only two sheep shrines in all of Japan! (the other is in Gunma Pref according to the priest).
Though the book, I hope to combat misinformation (as per the OP) circulating in Singapore by people whoβve not been harmed through the programme.
This is the first book of its kind and itβs currently not available in the public libraries so do get it for your queer Christian friend if need be.
Included are stories of people whoβve been through conversion therapy in Singapore.
Someone who had to take time off from uni to recover from his mental breakdown aft the programme, a person who was suicidal after it & a Catholic kid brought in by his parents.

Singaporeβs version of conversion therapy came from USA when Sy Rogers planted the Asia Pacific headquarters of Exodus International here.
Even after it shut down, they continued is still running today.
I wrote a book about it.
This is the ebook version:

Absolutely gorgeous photos of wildlife in Botswana taken by my friend. π
I should perhaps start uploading photos on my @leaflet.pub too. πΈ
Hmm. π€
Simply put: fict/fact/fuct -
Fict = a fact in a fictional narrative;
Fact = held as true by a faction; and
Fuct = a fact that has been sold to people as if itβs good for them when βin factβ itβs just the opposite.
- I wonder what Fred wouldβve made of this momentβ¦
Okay that might be too many but you get the idea.
Maybe I should narrow it down to two books but it's a little tough.
Hmm. Decisions.
Kinda like:
- Boy Erased (Garrard Conley) meets
- Crazy Rich Asians (Kevin Kwan) meets
- An Unquiet Mind (Kay Redfield Jamison) meets
- My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness (Nagata Kabi) meets
- Genderqueer (Maia Kobabe)
- Without Buddha I Could Not Be A Christian (Paul F. Knitter)
My pitch is that it's a non-binary gay girl in Singapore who survives conversion therapy & seeks treatment for dysphoria while learning to accept herself & broadens her theological horizons by taking part in interfaith discussions as books and writing keeps her alive.
Okay that might be a tad long.
