The Convalescent by Helene Schjerfbeck at the Met. And more cultural manoeuvres involving Robert Lowell, B.B. King, Caligula remade, and Honnold’s horror show.

Catterline in Winter by Joan Eardley more about her and other cultural and political manoeuvres - and a cautionary tale about an errant schoolboy.
Having long abandoned Twitter (X) and not finding much local traction on Threads, I think I’ll start hanging out on Bluesky. I’ll also post my weekly Substack here.

Nice one Jamie
Bret Easton Ellis is branded as ‘racist’, ‘misogynist’ and ‘laughably unaware of his own irrelevance’.

People seem puzzled that Michael Martin should abandon principle and the smooth progress of government to shove through a ludicrous deal with Lowry. Students of history know that abandoning principles for power comes naturally to Fianna Fáil – going back to the oath of allegiance in the 1920s.
Micheál Martin must be regretting the term “peacemaker” he applied to Trump in his deferential visit to the White House. Today’s slaughter in Gaza (that Trump“green lit”) shows that peace to Trump means the surrender of the weaker party to the stronger under non-negotiable terms. Watch out Ukraine.
Robert Reich on Substack always worth a read.

Glorious sunny day on the beach near Corbawn.
Works on me
FF were down and out (deservedly) in 2011 - FG brought them back into the fold in 2016 with the Confidence & Supply arrangement. A huge mistake. Now FG find themselves the rear end of the pantomime horse that will be the latest FFG government.
Escapee from Twitter, torn between Bluesky and Threads, I think I’ll just duplicate posts on both platforms and see where I get some traction.

Finding Twitter increasingly tiresome and so am transitioning over to the less fraught world of Bluesky. I’ll keep a foot in both camps for a week or two.
Would not be surprised - timely theme.
