its something that always happen seemingly with Generative Ai when used as a confident or a therapist. It eventually breaks down after enough information is gathered and starts suggesting unhinged shit.
Like that lady who fully believes her therapist was madly in love with her (he wasn't)

As for story mode content? I have a few guesses, but I'm not going to speculate cause it could literally be anything. RE9's fairly open ended and it could answer one of the several dangling plot threads, or maybe not. Capcom doesn't seem to have a overarching plan for RE games.
I think Capcom would be silly to NOT do a mercenaries mode given how half the game plays, but this is the problem of doing a game like RE9 the way they did. Unless you do both kinds of DLC, something is getting left out.
And sometimes Capcom does not do the easy money choice.
(That dating sim visual is def Generative Ai tho. Its a blurry image, but I feel pretty confident saying its Ai)
And that match game idea feels like a discarded mobile game idea. Which might already exist, I don't know.

It was one of those challenge runs where once you solved it once, there was never any real reason to do it again, as there wasn't a lot of variety.

As for the May surprise? I don't think its Mercenaries. I think its a new mode similar to the shirt he's wearing. (That feels like he wore it on purpose)
If you never played Ethan Must Die, its a minigame from Re7 that was basically a super hard challenge run. It had a bit of variety but...
So, RE9 has got the confirmation that DLC is coming. A photo mode and "a surprise" in May, and story content.... sometime.
That story content is at least 6-12 months away, depending. I don't think this is a RE8 situation where they didn't expect people to want DLC, but its not soon
