I donβt either. It seems like itβs almost always in that uOttawa to Hurdman stretch of the line. Iβm not sure what caused the issues at Tremblay and Blair.
Sure, it wasnβt as bad as everyone expected it to be. But it was clearly severe enough to cause the problem. Three days later, weβre still waiting for it to be fixed. I still maintain that if it had been shut down earlier as a precaution, we probably wouldnβt be dealing with this now.
Stop writing reports and start holding OC Transpo and its management accountable.
Good grief @timtierney.ca You and your colleagues have had years to fix Line 1.
Instead of commissioning another report to confirm what riders already know, the focus should be on fixing the problems and making sure the system actually runs when people need it.

Maybe, maybe not. Honestly, Iβm not sure what the alternative is. Itβs not like we can just scrap it and start over. Financially thatβs just not possible or realistic. Iβm not saying we should shut it down every time freezing rain is in the forecast, just in extreme cases like the other day.
Whether we like it or not, Line 1 is what we have. Itβs vulnerable to extreme weather. Instead of constantly playing the woulda, coulda, shoulda blame game, we should focus on solutions. Proactively shutting it down to prevent damage makes sense.

It seems to me that OC Transpo should consider proactively shutting down Line 1 when conditions deteriorate to the point where damage becomes possible. If it had been taken out of service earlier, we might not be dealing with yet another multi-day shutdown.
Freezing rain started this morning and continues this afternoon. This is making road conditions challenging and surfaces are slippery for customers and staff. O-Train Line 1 started on time and ran throughout the morning. As precipitation increased, Line 1 started to experience issues. At approximately 12:30pm, staff reported observing arcing on trains travelling between Hurdman and Lees stations, and subsequently damage to the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) was also reported in the same corridor. These impacts appear to be related to the severe weather event. Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) deployed technicians to inspect and repair the OCS. That work will continue this evening and likely into tomorrow morningβs peak period. As a result, we anticipate there will continue to be replacement bus service required and we will provide further updates later this evening.
Customers may notice that there are some out-of-service trains stopped at various locations on Line 1 due to the impacts to the OCS. Line 1 service has been adjusted to protect trains and the OCS. Currently, for customers this means: Line 1 service is operating between Tunneyβs Pasture to uOttawa stations R1 bus service is operating between Rideau and Blair stations, and a bus shuttle is running between St-Laurent and Cyrville stations Further OCS investigations are being conducted, and additional service adjustments may be required as the situation evolves. Para Transpo service and bus service continue to operate with some delays due to the road conditions. Customers are encouraged to exercise caution when entering and exiting vehicles and plan for extra time to get to their destination. Lines 2 and 4 continue to operate without service impacts, and our maintainer, TransitNext, continues to clear ice at stations.
Update from @octranspo.com re: train, bus, and Para Transpo. Including the Line 1 service disruption.

Trump has given the Iranians an opportunity. Hopefully they donβt squander it.
So they can end up being just another ignored and neglected territory of the US, like Puerto Rico? Who wouldnβt want that?
Fou.

I cannot think of another government organization, aside from ICE in the US, that deserves to be abolished more. Imagine spending $49 million a year of taxpayer money to hassle business owners over the size of the letters on their signs or the language they use in their social media posts. Dumb.

We donβt need a stunt to prove transit is failing. Riders already know. Youβve been on council since 2014. What real fixes have you and your colleagues delivered? People are tired of excuses, endless reports and photo ops. Fix the system.
Brady has a lot to explain about his behaviour at 4 Nations and the Olympic Games. He shouldnβt have to defend himself against fake videos generated and put out by lowlifes at the White House. Maybe now heβll realize that cozying up to Trump is never a good idea and usually backfires.
My thoughts on Team USA.
