They used to just do stuff like this to half the dex, the modern games generally having actual moveset curves is really so huge for gameplay feel (yanma's case remains funny though because wing attack is still locked to being a level 43 learnset move even in gen 9 for whatever reason)

Blue Prince got nothing, but it's so unique, that articles and playthroughs will persist, people will find it that way. But there are so many more, and so little space for them

It's a sad day for the art in a particularly sad year. Maybe the Game Awards just feels sadder knowing with a result like this and the way people approach and view games now especially, how even the games lucky enough to get nominated are likely to be forgotten without a large company as a lifeline.

How many amazing games exist only as a memory for the few who played it, because it lacked any of those big pushes into larger spaces of the internet. How many games were de-listed due to a shuttering studio or became console locked, hidden from even those seeking actively wherever they can.

You've got the Game Awards, you've got maybe a youtuber's playthrough or video essay from someone enduringly popular, and. sometimes a review article that gains a lot of traction. It's all otherwise word of mouth, genre and keyword search luck, and individual thoroughness in searching store pages.

It is very sad to me that there is no real place memorializing games or appreciating them as individual works of art. Even trying to find games from a decade ago that weren't major hits seems like a nightmare. There is not just no infrastructure for it, there is not even an idea of it in the space.
