The very best thing you’ll see today.
Ooops! ***Lil' lady!!!***
Google images tells me it's augochlora pura, aka green sweat bee. @alexwild.bsky.social, an actual bug nerd agrees AND has the mind-blowing scoop on the mouthpart movement—this lil' guy is cooking down a nice meal! Thanks Alex! 👇https://bsky.app/profile/alexwild.bsky.social/post/3meoegeuiss2s
Sounds about right. I mean, I’m not even a bug person but somehow get 500 results when I search “bug” in my iPhone photos. Here’s one of my weird bug moments. Look at him working those mouthparts!
I'm sorry the guy changing the rules on the fly is named what

Also we've fetishized "debate” in these spaces as some kind of civic good, when what matters is competence, trust, shared purpose. Medicine, engineering, boardrooms aren’t organized around debate or requirements of false balance. We've poisoned public discourse by insisting it be adversarial.
Or at least use tags so muting of “Nuzzi” and “Lizza” actually works. Please? (This applies to every person on Bluesky.)
Nope, you're not the only one!

I'm a solo consultant, so I'm very choosy about my subscriptions. I subscribed to @statnews.com last year and recently re-upped without hesitation. It's incredibly good reporting and worth every penny.

A Bold Jumping Spider watching a human from the edge of a terracotta pot. He is black, with 2 big white spots on his back. He has grey/white hairs all over his legs and body. He has green iridescent chelicerae (mouth parts of some sort…I don’t know I’m not a spider person) which kinda looks like a cute little green mustache. Read more about them here: https://extension.psu.edu/bold-jumper-spider
I usually keep my distance from spiders, but jumping spiders are kinda cute IMO. I politely escorted one off my porch last week and I swear he watched me futzing in the garden, like he wanted to hang around, chat, and become fast old friends.
Tomatoes: I have good luck managing powdery mildew w/neem oil. Resistant basil (“DMR”) is a must-have & will last til frost. Re flowers…roses = relentless beetles/can’t win. Cosmos & gomphrena are pretty & hearty. Benary zinnias make the fight against PM worth it. www.johnnyseeds.com/herbs/basil/...

Five pretty pies, all in a row. Left to right, bourbon pecan, cherry almond, pumpkin streusel and lemon chess, made from a recipe used by a dear friend’s grandma.
For 20 people, I made 5 pies + guests brought 3. Had to be sure we had the 2 pie minimum on the bourbon pecan. Streusel pumpkin, lemon chess, cherry almond joined the party.
A black mini-schnauzer laying on a red blanket, peering into the camera. She looks pretty pensive and moody, but probably just wondering if the photographer still has some treats in her pocket.
A whole mood.
Definitely gotta chase the original with EB’s cover. So good. open.spotify.com/track/1ifM8C...
A plate of roasted delicata squash, cut into half-moons, golden brown, and topped with a rosemary sprig.
That is a great tip. I love butternut but slicing/peeling always feels like an ER visit waiting to happen. My latest go-to is delicata. No peeling, easy to slice, ready to eat in 20-30, and really delicious.
+1 on Salux. Check mftr website bc the Amazon knockoffs are hard to spot and brutally rough.
It is so good. And basically a crustless pie with dinner.
Yes! Hope you can get some rest! İyi geceler. 😴😂
I grew up in a bilingual household, but even with English being my primary, my brain just loves to slip “yani” into conversation when I’m tired.
Out of curiosity, I checked out ingredients. It’s silica. In dust form. Wondering if it’s the same stuff that OSHA regulates wrt workplace exposure? www.osha.gov/silica-cryst...

For all the times you’ve wondered what the underside of a dew-covered funnel spider web looks like…
Same!
I encounter so few Berna’s I’m gonna have to follow!
