So 4 characters are roughly one token. A sentence gets broken into tokens and that gives a rough idea of how much compute / processing is needing for the LLM system.

That’s my basic understanding of what a token is.

I wasn’t too familiar other than the term but it’s a way to convert text / information into data that’s used for processing reference.
