I saw cops remove people from Collingwood ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Interestingly, that time, with the street devoid of its usual life, was the only time I ever felt unsafe in my neighbourhood.

I'm incredibly proud to have co-drafted this important and timely report on the need for states to take responsibility for their role in the torture of CIA detainee Ammar al Baluchi.

There will be a section describing how Sarahs are high quality but slightly unhinged - designed to keep one on ones toes.

Theory: all geriatric millennials have a Sarah for each phase of their life (may also be plural and overlapping).

I'm currently doing PLT with young grads and nothing has made me feel older than hearing them be nostalgic for the 2010s.

Wisconsin man who showed up to support an anti-trans bill does something amazing - Queerty β€œI have a very little knowledge of gay people and things like that there…” β€œI have a very little knowledge of gay people and things like that there…”

This elderly man showed up to support an anti-trans bill in my home state and then, because he had to wait hours to testify, he was stuck listening to queer folks rally against it

By the time it was his turn to speak, he'd changed his mind

Never doubt that speaking out can change hearts and minds

Judith Butler, philosopher: β€˜If you sacrifice a minority like trans people, you are operating within a fascist logic’ A leading figure in feminism and gender studies, the thinker welcomes EL PAÍS in California after being voted one of the most influential minds in the world

Judith Butler: "Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic, because that means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice, and a third, a fourth, and then what happens?"

Seems like a good first post. In just over a week, Matt Warren and I will be reconvening Untermorast for the first time in 12 months and this one is going to be extra special with @pipst.bsky.social joining us on stage for a trio set. Really looking forward to this one! Details in the image.

Misinformation isn't random - it's strategic. 🧡

In the first cross-national comparative study, we examine 32M tweets from politicians.

We find that misinformation is not a general condition: it is driven by populist radical right parties.

Such a special event - and my first time being in a room full of queer and femmo international law nerds IRL. Total joy. (and not dissimilar to hanging out with radio art nerds). Congrats @pagingdrpaige.bsky.social and @claerwen.bsky.social (+ authors!) on your quiblings!!

MIT has a set of books labelled "Open Access" but it's a little clunky to find them on the MIT Press site, and so I've gone ahead and mirrored 400+ of them here:

I've discovered that if you are a geriatric millennial with particular music tastes and an interest in international criminal law, you can make the algorithm really earn its keep by using the search term "interpol".
