My dad calls himself a Reagan/Bush “compassionate conservative” and has hated Trump since the beginning (and hated the Tea Party Ted Cruz-types before that). He seems to experience zero cognitive dissonance with this.
I’m one of those people and it’s just about choosing how you spend your time. Basically the only tv I watch is sports, and I’m frequently reading while half paying attention to those. I know I’m missing out on some great tv, but that’s a trade I’m willing to make
