I'm seeing these "to be sure" comments even in LLM-skeptical essays. You do not have to hand it to them! Especially about something you don't understand!
My day job is web development and I really enjoy it, even the tedious parts! And as this excellent essay lays out, friction, or tedious parts, are a good hint that you're not doing something the best way jacobharr.is/personal/i-d...
I'm gonna need everyone who doesn't write code to stop saying "of course LLMs will destroy programmer jobs" or even "of course LLMs are very good for coding."
(If you do write code I will believe that you have found the latter to be true for you--though I suspect its eroding your skills.)
I don't understand this!!! I write historical fiction and reading books for research is one of the perks
Also, I hate having LLMs talk to me
And of course all the plagiarism, misinformation, and environmental wreckage
There's also the fact that Rowling has been fairly explicit that the money she earns through Harry Potter she's putting into anti-trans lobbying efforts.
There's a difference, IMHO, between an artist with a shitty private life, and an artist using their money to fund regressive social change.
New Tarot Deck: The Fool π
I should watch this again. That cast was unreal. Summer Glau, Dean Winters, Shirley Manson...
RIP your mentions, @thefourthvine.bsky.social !
It was so good it even made Brian Austin Green good, which is quite a challenge
I just spilled my lunch on my dress, my sweater, and my hair. Is this...π¦...a hat trick????
π
Thanks! Not as helpful as I hoped, but $50 seems like a good deal π

There are so many things that both Ds and Rs resist doing that 90% of the electorate wants. I'm not saying they're the same, but the centrist position protects those in the center of power from losing any of it
I think this couch black hole might also be responsible for the shockingly high gravity in the corner of the sectional. This also affects the passage of time in that corner--somehow it goes very quickly when I'm sitting there knitting and reading
A lot of machine knit sweaters are made out of pieces cut from bolts of knitted cloth which means every row will have a cut end. You'd be tying very short pieces together.
You could try and see, but I wonder if patching the sweater or using it as fabric, not yarn, might go better
Daaaaaaaaaaang. Great dress that looks great on you in a great setting
I need the number of a practical astrophysicist who does house calls. There is a black hole in my couch sucking in knitting needles and I would like it removed.
In my day we just wrote fanfiction. Or created our own original thing.
Not liking how someone else executed an idea is such a great spur for creativity
Such a beautiful phrase

To quote a comedian who sucks but did have a good line, "'What am I gonna tell my kids?' I dunno, man, whatever you want. Gay people can't have rights because you don't want to have a conversation with your shitty kids?"
And it would be even more important for others π€ͺ
It would be so life-changing for me. It's the only reason I have a full time job
And also plenty of fat. That is a very good diagram
If they're a macrobiotic nut like Shane it may be a lot of brown rice and fruit, but still carbs
As someone doing more sprinty athletic stuff where you want a lot of muscle mass, not unlike short hockey shifts, they probably won't be quite as carb heavy as a marathon runner but they will still be eating plenty of carbs
My overachieving body woke me up at 5am, new time today. Thanks????
And this is exactly the reason why it's a hard policy sell. The abuse is inherent to capitalism. We live in an abusive system where health care and housing are dependent on employers' whims
