So, the StarLink question takes a different turn. Even as StarLink provides communications benefits for sailors, is so many satellites and ever more "space junk" they create damaging our planet and sailing?
Just found: a platform dedicated to showcasing and supporting women-owned and women-forward outdoor brands, nonprofits and community organizers. In the words of one of Sailing-to-Salvage's supporters, OH Wow! www.theoutspring.com
Why we can select better frameworks than "the first" and "rock stars." Reason 1: "Firsts" don't do justice to the (often hidden) people who should be credited. Reason 2: "Firsts" and "rock stars" etc. make the accomplishment seem like a quirk or rarity (see Reason 1). Please: let's do better.
I'm not sure about how useful "rock star" labels are (andt the marketing of women sailors has much room for improvement) but I am so happy to see this: www.sailmagazine.com/videos/rocks...

Cole Brauer, 29, is on track to set a speed record for her boat class, and to be the first American woman to complete a solo, nonstop sailing race around the world.
This is not a water bed. It's Grace O'Malley's cockpit and lockers. She's officially Salvage-to-Sailing's first donation and that's my boots while I was pumping out a couple inches of water this morning. π₯°
