I am a multiple generation granddaughter of a man who not only fought at Lexington, the first battle of The Revolution, but also battles such as Fort Ticonderoga and survived the war as well. Finding out this information had a profound effect on me.
Imagine if four years into our war in Iraq we had only occupied 20 percent of it and lost 1.2 million men. Would anyone say the US is winning?

As a veteran who’s deployed, I know exactly what “in theater” means. It’s a military term for operations in foreign countries. Using it to describe Minneapolis isn’t accidental…and I can’t overemphasize how dangerous that language shift is.
