why isnβt the judge worried about all the damage these people have done? How many lives have been upended by their actions?

Haitian woman, 31, dies alone at Pittsburgh bus stop days after ICE released her to the streets far from home to perish. Rest in power, Daphy Michel: migrantinsider.com/p/the-loneso...
Sorry to get political again on the silly Nintendo fangirl account but hey gang: when do we start really worrying about this shit. Are we there yet? Feels like we are there.
When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.
Very good
To summarize, Trump has offered asylum to Iranβs womenβs soccer team and death to its menβs.
After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative. The civilian mitigation teams β cut by 90% by Hegseth β work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools
I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.
This is learned today:
Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

KURT VONNEGUT: Oh, she says well, you're not a poor man. You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babes. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know... And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And, we're not supposed to dance at all anymore.

And I speak of spiritual suffering! Of people seeing their talent, their work, their lives wasted. Of good minds submitting to stupid ones. Of strength and courage strangled by envy, greed for power, fear of change.
This guy thought heβd never have to answer for his actions. Thereβs a lot of that going around. We have to hold ALL of them accountable.
here's more context for this clip π it doesn't make what Trump said about 6 year old girls any less weird
YES!

In 2013 Aaron Swartz committed suicide for facing 35 years in prison for mass downloading scientific articles.
13 years later, Meta is almost getting away with an infraction orders of magnitude larger.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

What higher praise for @seanmcarroll.bsky.social than to be on this list?
It's no secret that Trump's GOP wants to put its fingers on the scale of democracy and mess up the 2026 midterms, but how?
Rooted in conspiracy theories, a deliberate effort to confuse voters, and judicial meddling, Dallas exposed their vile scheme

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.
That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$11,574 per second.
People do not want this.
They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.
