HOLD ON!
So don't feel bad about sending your best friend 1000 memes or videos every day. It's just you saying "Here I think you'll like this too" and clipping your little internet funs, putting them in a metaphorical plastic bag, and sending them over for them to enjoy at their leisure.
When I was a kid living in Germany, I had relatives send me cartoons they found. They'd cut them out & mail them every month or so.
I was today years old when I realized that me sending little memes to my friends is the same act of love. I screenshot & send to the people I know will love them.
100%
I have always forgotten & scheduling things on Thursdays now! ;(
Maybe instead of purging the Social Security workers who make sure seniors get their checks on time, we should be expanding benefits to make life a little easier for your parents and grandparents.
100%. On the good side, I've slept in this week.
On the bad side, there is a high possibility we all have to get up at a normal time tomorrow.
For the most part! It's extremely quiet right now and that...may mean trouble later. ;)
I hope so. Kids have been out of school since last Wednesday. (there were school holidays mixed in, but still)
Please do!
100%
Do it! :)
Reading is reading is reading.
This is giving out raisins at Halloween energy.
Ooooh, I did not know you had a new book coming out so soon! YAY
I did not watch the Superb Owl.
I DID do a lot of thinking about what it says about the marketers that we focus so much on ads that most marketers will never have the budget or team for.
As always, as an industry, we award attention to the flashy & dramatic vs. the steady & solid.
I will *ALSO* advocate for the "scream into the void" option. ;)
I always advocate that one.
Things I refuse to do:
armchair quarterback overloaded small nonprofit, research or communications teams by posting what they *SHOULD* be doing right now.
I'm not gonna join the chorus of "you should bes" going on right now.
Ack! This week I had "lunch with your kid" at my kids school.
(I had lunch with MY kid, to be clear, not someone else's kid)
Thank you for joining me! :)
Oh yay! That's good to know! I'm glad they have coverage and that I helped you in particular! :)
That thing where it "warms up" so you get excited and think "maybe I can walk outside" but the warm up is 10 degrees so it's 23 instead of 11
.
Aw, thanks Roy! I was wondering how everything was going with that, by the way. DM me and let me know!
I liked it so much, I'll be doing this workshop again, maybe at mid year. I'll also be doing another workshop in April - so if you want to join in the fun, subscribe right here: www.oberdinconsulting.com/sustainable-...
Because sometimes, when we throw away the ideas about what we "should" be doing, we find that we can do things that make sense for us.
Yesterday I gave a Marketing Ideas Clear Out workshop for my subscribers.
I loved hearing about what people wanted to do, & guide them through if they should move forward.
Even more fun? Watching people (& ME!) recognize that their great idea ISN'T ready for prime time - now or ever.
Thanks @read-roy.bsky.social!
Amy! Roy's graphic is pretty on the money, but email me and I'll see if I can help with some ideas.
I was presenting a workshop for my newsletter subscribers!
