I know exactly who conservatives are going to *claim* they're protecting with these laws, but as usual it's not actually about that. I'd die of old age waiting for anything they do to be in anything approaching good faith...

Teen Librarian (and YA novel enthusiast), fan of the White Sox & Fulham (but also too many other teams for this bio), cats, vinyl, craft beer & TV. Vaguely between Leftist & Liberal, Lived several places, but 630 is always my area code.

FWIW I like the staff I supervise as people, but not going near any boundaries there...
Another factor is that I was invited by a co-worker that I'm friendly with, but not exactly friends with and maybe this would push that over the line for better or worse? Making work friends/general social interactions as an adult can be weird territory. I don't supervise them so there's that...
Seriously considering joining *another* long-term keeper fantasy baseball league because it sounds cool and I desperately need endless distractions here in the Bad Place (the US, the planet Earth... take your pick). Only thing stopping me is that it has a big buy-in that I'm unlikely to get back...
True of *Most* American mens' sports sadly.
OK, I'll backtrack a bit bc I can concede you & other baseball people made a good argument even if I don't agree; it was mostly the trolls who don't care about baseball memeing the hell out of it that I'm referring to. And I think anyone hitting 60+ is still huge, it's still only been done 10 times.
I avoid the Right-wing pundit ecosystem like the plague, but I'm guessing there's crickets about American-born players playing for Italy as opposed to the vitriol against American-born Olympians competing for other countries... for reasons.
The Venn diagram of Kobe stans mad at Bam Adebayo, "Wilt didn't really score 100" conspiracy theorists and people who mocked people impressed by Aaron Judge's 62 home runs because "it was only the 7th most in a single season" has gotta be damn near a circle. Just delusional and unserious...
Two tabby and white cats cuddling and sleeping. Leela who has a punk nose is resting her head on Bender.
In fairness, cats should always win with any age. I mean look at these two:
I'm not going to stop saying that the 77 million Americans who voted for DJT are responsible for this, BUT the fact that even a small minority on the Left got conned by RFK Jr's anti-MRNA Vax nonsense thinking that's all it was (likely the same ones who insisted DJT was "anti-war") is just maddening
WBC pool play coming down to weird tie-breakers...
Although in fairness, they probably don't actually know about any of it because their Right-wing echo chamber isn't talking about it. You could fill every library and server farm on Earth with the stuff MAGAs choose not to know...
Sometimes it almost feels like this administration is performance art to see just how much grift tens of millions of Americans will uncritically support. Just neverending, transparent malfeasance that should permanently end all clownish statements about conservatives being "fiscally responsible"...
Imagine Spurs sweating over the selection headache of a match at Preston days after visiting the Bernabeu or Port Vale's manager having to decide whether Lyon visiting or a trip to Cheltenham was more crucial... it would be comically absurd.
Obviously, I want Fulham to find a way to 7th or 8th and European qualification, but Fulhamishness probably won't allow that, so Port Vale winning the FA Cup and Spurs the Champions League while both also get relegated would be a hilariously chaotic consolation prize...
Port Vale is 24th in League 1 & in the FA Cup Quarterfinals and Spurs are 1 point from relegation & in the Champions League Round of 16 and while I know there's a 99.9% chance the stars won't align (was probably 99.999% earlier this season), English โฝ has a non-zero chance to do the funniest thing
If gender were the immutable biological reality they claim to believe it is, they wouldn't need to spend so much energy policing it like this.
Every day this man drops the world's flimsiest mask and tells people how much he longs for the Apartheid of his youth. Not thinking he's racist is on a level of magical thinking of whatever excuse people used to convince themselves to vote for DJT.
I don't know if journalists consistently using the phrase "falsely claims/claimed" in coverage of DJT over the past 11 years would've meant he didn't get elected/re-elected/actually ever faced consequences for his actions, but it couldn't have hurt...
(So that's not entirely true, the weather's nice, so I'll probably touch grass at some point and may or may not be able to watch the evening games, but I've got the next few hours locked down anyway).
World Baseball Classic Schedule: March 9 6 a.m. Korea vs. Australia, FS1 12 p.m.: Dominican Republic vs. Israel, FS1 12 p.m.: Colombia vs. Panama, FS2 1 p.m.: Brazil vs. Great Britain, Tubi 7 p.m. Cuba vs. Puerto Rico, FS1 7 p.m.: Venezuela vs Nicaragua, FS2 8 p.m.: Mexico vs. USA, FOX
Off work today, so these are my plans (lots of multi-view usage) #wbc #worldbaseballclassic
A lot of scrappiness here, but early on in these highlights you'll see Marcus Browne provide one of the absolutely filthiest assists you'll ever see. Backheel cutback from the byline... #AFCW
I figured I'd just catch the Fulham highlights later and that winning at home against a mid-table Championship side to advance to the FA Cup Quarterfinals wouldn't be too tough, because I temporarily forgot that I've witnessed 20+ years of Fulhamishness which says otherwise.
I had a choice between watching AFC Wimbledon and Fulham this morning. I rarely get to watch #AFCW so I chose them. That was apparently the correct choice.
I counted *at least* 66 mistakes on this list - made up names, real players listed multiple times or for the wrong teams, NFL logos; But let's outsource everything related to medicine, education and the military to this technology because it'll make some of the worst people in the world even richer.
If Ken Griffey Jr. isn't already anti-AI, he would be after seeing it claim that he actually played for the team he hates the most
Yeah, for all the age talk about US politicians *some* of the worst members of Congress are Millennials and Gen Xers. ("Some" bc some of the best members of Congress are also in that age bracket & we need fewer octogenarians in power, but overall "younger is better" can also be demonstrably false).
Trans kids are an easy target. Bigots lost ground on attacking gay people, so switched to trans people. And kids are an easy wedge issue because everyone gets worked up about protecting them. It's why book bans started in schools, too. Banning books is unpopular, but protecting kids is popular.
The other issue is while it may be more fun for fans of teams outside the top 8 or so, the PL survival rate for playoff teams seems low enough already- if a 7th or 8th place team somehow claws through the playoffs what chance do they really have? The Championship was competitive enough already.
