Utah has a really great Geologic Record. Cambrian sites like Spence, Wheeler, Weeks and Marjum are quickly becoming some of the most important globally, and in the Cenozoic you have amazing mammal assemblages, as well as Lake Uinta. Definitely one of the best places on the planet for fossils.
Utah deserves its own Dinosaur Documentary. No other place in the world has such a continuous record in one place intersperced with spectacular National Parks and Monuments. @scinews.bsky.social @netflix.com @altnps.bsky.social @whydinosaurs.bsky.social @agu.org @societyofvertpaleo.bsky.social

If you want to support a museum and get a pretty cool book, I recommend this book illustrated by @joschuaknuppe.bsky.social. Lots of really good info, I just hope that itโs easier for people to get their hands on relatively soon.
A book in german with several swimming Plesiosaurs, long necked marine reptiles.
I finally got my hands on "Die Welt der Plesiosaurier" from LWL. Huge congrats to @dinosven.bsky.social Achim Schwemann & @joschuaknuppe.bsky.social. I am excited to read through this! if you can get your hands on it I highly recommend getting it. its wonderful sofar!

yeah, its really frustrating when people are expecting individuals to face systemic issues that reach so much further beyond *just* paleontology. I've literally had to see folks far more academically well-off than I reconsidering investing their time into the field recently because of everything.
I wish I could express my dismayal at the current state of the field of Paleontology without people saying "be the change you want to see in the world" like that helps any. The field is harder and harder to be in, from all angles: Cost, Academia, and the power that so many awful people still hold.

Here the result of the Ein Yabrud quarry #paleostream. An important locality from the Cretaceous of Palestine. While mostly famous for it's marine snakes and early mosasauroids, beautiful fish fossils and rich invertebrate fauna are completing this picture!

A landscape page with a pale green background and two illustrations of Ginkgo on it. On the left is an inaccurate one with leaves coming directly from a branch. On the right is an accurate one with clusters extending from short shoots.
I, too, would like to have a go at the new Spinosaurus soon, but in the meantime:
Here's a slide from my recent talk, which covers the DOs and DON'Ts of restoring ginkgoes within palaeoart!
Enjoy! #Ginkgo #FossilFriday #paleobotany #paleoart #SciComm

in a couple days on Saturday 11pm CET, Paleostream will be illustrating the Ein Yabrud Lagerstรคtte of Palestine. Josch has confirmed there should be some charities available for folks to donate to, which i highly recommend folks should if you have the means. I hope to see you there. #FreePalestine
If the paleo community is going to be serious about Hornerโs connection to Epstein, we also have to be serious about Myhrvoldโs, because guess who contributed photos of animals mating to Epsteinโs birthday book and has been appearing in new paleo papers this year - including the new Spinosaurus.
The words "SciArt" on a deep blue gradient background, like the ocean. SCI is in bright orange, ART in Naples Yellow/cream. Similar colours to the puffer fish emoji, the community mascot.
