π Benkyo Box 1.5.10 is out now in the AppStore with:
- Import study cards from Anki (export coming up next)
- Revamped the Import UI, which now shows a preview of the contents being imported before you do import it.
- Fix for music playback stopping in the study view
- Fix iPad windows not resizing
As always, betas available in TestFlight: testflight.apple.com/join/eHBWUu1u
π§ͺ Now in beta builds is our first update of the year: 1.5.10 brings importing decks from Anki (.apkg files)
Simple, reversed, and "Cloze" (fill-in-the-blanks) templates are supported. Of course, a #Shortcuts action was added for this. Lots of little and not-so-little fixes as UI cleanup as well!
New Advanced Learner feature: Extract #flashcards from text or urls. It uses #AppleIntelligence to extract cards from content, so your cards stays local and private. We are still improving it, but it's already a great way to get started with a deck!
4. Better default window sizes
Update to the latest iOS and macOS betas to get the handoff fixes (as changes needed to be done on both versions)
Use TestFlight to try them out: testflight.apple.com/join/jZXFDA46
π§ͺ Internal 1.5.7 builds focus largely on #Mac improvements β highlights:
1. Shortcuts and Continuity are better at opening lists and cards in the right window
2. Menu bar and context menus disable/enable available options more reliably
3. Shortcuts views look nicer on Mac

Happy studies - for us is back to feature development πͺ
1.5.4 is out and fixes those and various other bugs, hides the badge on Mac when the app is closed (so that you can ignore it when you want to), and makes the Home Screen Widget update more reliably.
And thank you for sending feedback, we have a good backlog of things to improve π
A promo image of Benkyo Box for Mac. It has an import window with questions and answers for the fictional role-playing show "Fire in the Role". It has a study view with a Pomeranian picture and the answer "Pomeranian". In the back of these windows there's a Library window with the current progress and a Computer History Museum folder selected.
Benkyo Box is out for Mac π
It's a native #Mac study app with plenty of features to study, import, organize and clear your study queue. apple.co/42QuGt6
Known bugs (fixes in Apple review):
- Some cards are not included when exporting using drag/drop
- State restoration breaks selection in calendar
A screenshot of 3 versions of Benkyo Box, for iPad, Mac and iPhone. They all show the main interface, with a Today View with your progress. iPad and Mac selected the Computer History Museum folder, with a card for the IBM 1401 computer selected. A badge for Mac Coming Soon is attached to the Mac. The top says "Capture and learn what matters to you, now in Liquid Glass"
We are proud of our Liquid Glass update, now available in the AppStore π. And as always, hold on tight for the Mac update, coming soon!

π΄Adding multi-select previews and better multi-actions in the next beta build (macOS and iPad)
A screenshot of BenkyoBox for macOS. It shows the import view in the foreground, where you can import cards from multiple questions and answers in a document. It has 3 questions related to bluesky.
π» An early beta of Benkyo Box for macOS (1.5.0) is available for beta testing - lots of kinks to iron out but itβs starting to take shape! Feel free to download it in TestFlight:
testflight.apple.com/join/jZXFDA46
Itβs more solid in macOS 26, less so in 15, but weβll get there.
#flashcards
Our developer took a short vacation, took notes in the #ComputerHistoryMuseum, then realized we didn't have an obvious feature: a notification badge with the number of remaining studies. Notification badges available in the upcoming 1.4.5 release (in review) π
1.5.0 is out in beta with the new #liquidglass ui. Enjoy!
testflight.apple.com/join/jZXFDA46
Itβs still with the old icon due to some last minute issues, but a new one should be coming in a later beta.
Quick preview of Benkyo Box Mac version (pre-Tahoe). We customized the Study View specifically for Mac using trackpad gestures and plain ol' buttons.
1.4.1 is out! some highlights:
1. You can see each card's progress when viewing a card.
2. Theme color previews in Settings
3. Study button is easier to tap
And from 1.4.0:
1. Long cards scroll in the study view
2. More flexible column selection in CSV import
3. Faster startup time
#apps #updates
Some of you import #flashcards from CSVs that have more than 1 column that is relevant to the question/answer, for example: The hiragana in one column, definition in the other. Next update will allow you to select more than 1 column (see the video to see how it works). #BenkyoBox
I am aware that 1.3.2 broke image annotation creation. 1.3.3 is in review with a fix. Sorry for that!
Those a great apps, thank you for including me π§‘
Took a break from our upcoming liquid glass 𫧠and macOS update to ship a few fixes in 1.3.2:
1. Home Screen Stats widget now correctly updates
2. The study scoring control has been refined to be easier to interact with
3. Lists are more data dense
4. Other smaller refinements

A small quality of life improvement coming up
