This has already been in effect in the UK and some other countries for a year now. Nobody here in the UK liked it but it was forced upon us already by our Gov under said lies. Not giving a photo / ID meant you would have restricted access. It's incredibly dumb and stupid
This is due to the UK and other countries creating laws to force companies like Discord to do this. Out of Discord's hands sadly. It's all in the guise of "child safety" when it reality it's just Governments wanting to control what we see and do on the internet.
Not to defend Discord because god forbid I'd do that but this is sadly not entirely their choice. For whatever reason we've entered a time of heavy internet censorship against anything 18+ by Governments, and payment processes like Mastercard/Visa and this is what they want every platform to do
