Is it bad manners to send book proposal to more than one publisher at once?
I'm not much liking the 21st century, so I'm escaping to the 19th century and reading Middlemarch
I have proofed 4 pages. Stopping now before I start to make things worse.
Disgraceful!
For me it's not so much about LLMs than about career stage. If I can't write the way I want now that I have at least some job security, when can I?
Submissions are open for @triphilosophy.bsky.social's 2026 Nayef Al-Rodhan International Book Prize in Transdisciplinary Philosophy.
If you have written book that meets the criteria, please ask your publisher to nominate it. If you work in publishing, please nominate your favourite eligible books.

I have just finished reading Wedekind's FrΓΌhlingserwachen (Spring Awakening). It's certainly different....
A copy of the Cambridge student edition of Hobbes Leviathan.
Maybe more orange. Anyway, it was fine? Long time since I've read it for a reading group
I have the dark blue one with the red writing
I feel seen...
Sliver of sky!
Thinking about LLM companions/friends and Nozick's experience machine. Seems like lots of people do choose the experience machine. #philsky
I'm co-running a weekly online reading group on trans philosophy. We're now meeting Thursdays, 16:00-17:00 UK time. If you want to be added to the mailing list, please drop me a message :)

What are people's views on revealing that one reviewed a paper post publication? Bad etiquette? Fine?
I sometimes want to approach authors whose papers I really liked, but not sure it's the done thing. #academicsky

You've lost that loving feeling, ooh-ooh that loving feeling...

I did this with ours last summer. Some really impressive open days. Unfortunately, no scope for direct comparison as he's applied for engineering.
Aw, that's so sweet! And amazingly organised!
I sort of feel there's going to be so many ways people misunderstand papers that I'd only write response if you feel a burning need to set the record straight.
I'll be talking about what blame is good for, functionalist explanation and consequentialist justifications in London next Monday. Come along if you're in town! #philsky
I've read Wuthering Heights twice over the years but still don't really know whether I like it. I think fundamentally I'm a bit too prosaic and unromantic for the strong passions portrayed. And it's one of those books with a severe shortage of likeable characters. But might give it another go.
But it's very hard to get out of the writing habit once you get into it.
