I've been providing reflective supervision to school leaders for over a year now.
Neither counselling nor therapy, case-based supervision has given them a space to share, reflect on, and rethink how they tackle the weighty challenges they face.
It helps. Each of them has renewed for a second year.
@samcrome.bsky.social it was fantastic to have you join us. A really thought provoking session. Definately made me reflect on current practices and how we can develop them.
Truly great lecture. Having worked with @APPGMenBoys on boys achievement along with some great school leaders, itβs good to get this conversation some traction. Just letβs make sure this is not a binary dialogue - boys and girls, men and women both need security, opportunity, confidence and support.
I don't generally go nuts for learning from leaders in other domains, but I would strongly recommend Gareth Southgate's Dimbleby Lecture. I found what he said about creating the right culture spot on and quite moving. He brings together when so many are keen to divide. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...
The interim curriculum review report has landed. From an EBacc review, to less content in primary school lessons and fewer GCSE exams - here's the 14 key things school leaders need to know ...
Hi Tom. It was great to hear you reference satellite provisions as part of your thinking. We host a satellite provision and itβs the first time I have heard this be raised as part of the solution!
Sir Martyn Oliver references the recommendation in ASCL's Blueprint for a Fairer Education System for a balanced scorecard - but disagrees with our suggestion that schools & colleges should be evaluated as simply having met or not met standards in different aspects of education. #ASCL2025
HMCI Sir Martyn Oliver tells @ASCL2025 that it's really important that serving school and college leaders respond to Ofsted'current consultation. ASCL will be submitting our response, and sharing it with members, next week.

The least enjoyable part of school leadership. Any hint of snow and I wake up every two hours to see if it hassnowed then after days of will it snow or not I end up so knackered I donβt wake up the night it actually does snow!! Let the fun begin π
As a reminder, this is how we at @ascl-uk.bsky.social would like to see report cards introduced:
- based on a clear set of standards, set out in legislation
- schools evaluated on whether or not they meet those standards
- schools which donβt supported to do so

Thatβs too much to take in on a Saturday morning!
Agreed. Did also worry about the use of the term βdeep divesβ in the NHS.

What @stulock.bsky.social says about sorting systems out will increase teaching in the classroom is so true!
Often, teachers get bogged down in the processes and not on what is being taught.
Just posted new blog on Bluesky and not (yet) on Twitter. Be interesting to see engagement. Will I fold and put it on Twitter too? Please help me avoid the temptation by reposting here!
