Most importantly, we need proportional representation NOW. The Liberals would still be in charge, but the NDP would be a strong voice, and the Conservatives would likely never form a government again.

The NDP also needs to start vetting its candidates more thoroughly. An NDP MP who's willing to join a right wing party, which is unequivocally what the Liberals are now, should be setting off huge alarm bells.

Anyway, so I have a Final Fantasy deck and a dark fairytale goblin deck, and I’m looking forward to playing more.

And so the thing that I avoided for a very long time because of how I was treated in those spaces has become measurably easier by the inclusion of women and femme presenting people in those spaces.

And not to say the hostility in gaming spaces doesn’t exist now, but it is measurably lessened than it was when I was much younger. And it helps that I played magic with my friend, who is a woman, who works in a gaming shop.

She mentioned she wanted to start a magic night for women and femmes.

And I even had my own issues when I joined my first TTRPG group when I was in my teens, because it was all dudes. Two dudes left because they didn’t want me there because I identified as femme.

I was always incredibly intimidated by magic when I was in high school and early 20s. A lot of of the weird, mouth breathing dudes that played it in the local comic shop were really hostile to women and femme presenting people being in the shop, never mind playing it.

And I’m gonna talk about it, cause the world is fucking garbage right now, and we all have to find some measure of joy where we can. And if you don’t like that, that’s fine. You don’t have to read it.

So after 30+ years, I have finally broken down and bought my first magic the gathering deck. And played this weekend.
