Wanna see a crazy chart? Of course you do.
Spending on constructing datacenters and manufacturing facilities for computers & electronic products in the US now exceeds the entire retail and wholesale industry and almost as much as the rest of the office and manufacturing sectors combined.
I am so sick of this shit. Keep pushing people out of their goddam jobs with subpar "AI" integrations but still expecting those same people to somehow stay paying into fucking capitalism to buy the, again, increasingly worse "AI"-infused shit. I hate it so much.
I'm just saying, if we ever have a Democratic President again they need to go after every single right wing Christian college in the nation EXACTLY as hard as Trump is going at real schools.
One of the big underlying issues with electing a reality tv star president is the media can only see and report on him as a star and not a politician. Things like this are treated like a celebrity feud and not a crazed despot fracturing the rule of law.
There are reporters still talking about Bidenβs mental sharpness while the current president is declaring Rosie OβDonnell a βthreat to humanity.β
Spencer Hakimian @SpencerHakimian Somebody front ran the Brazil tariff news. Somebody bought a HUGE amount of USD and shorted BRL (Brazil's currency) at 1:32 PM. The 50% tariff announcement came at 4:19 PM, at which point, it looks like the big trader exited his trade instantly. Making 2.5% on a currency trade (which are usually 10-20x leveraged) so really 25% to 50% in less than 3hours. The most openly corrupt administration of all time.
A young man stands on stage in a costume that can only be described as "sketchy." White Nike shirt over black and white Adidas track suit pants. He points at the crowd in mid-delivery of a monologue that would move his career forward. But was this the peak of his career? Click the link to find out.

Nestled up against the steps of City Hall in LA is a large placard with missing posters for the recently disappeared in the city.
I gotta say I find a lot of AI discourse around higher ed very confusing. "if ChatGPT can write your essays is college even worth it?" did people think math teachers were assigning problem sets because *they* couldn't figure out the answers?
AI doesn't help with research because it makes shit up.
AI doesn't help with structure, its structures are all taken from other works. You can lift structure yourself by simply reading a book or watching a movie.
And if you're using it for brainstorming, what's the point of writing? That's pathetic.
People that are selling AI are like gambling addicts
They lost so much money building it, but believe if they keep pouring more and more money into it they will hit the jackpot.
It's their golden ticket to winning capitalism
No workers to pay
No skills required
Just profit
"I was AI curious, we might say."
I am not AI curious. I am having a livable planet curious. I am humanity curious. I am art curious I am go fuck yourself curious. I am I don't know how to explain to you that art's going to cost you curious. I will die having never submitted a prompt.
So this person doesn't care that AI was trained on the stolen works of her colleagues? Or the environmental damages of the data centers that power the AI? Or the fact that using AI to "research" will have you making fly agaric smoothies?
The major AI industry leaders stood next to Donald Trump at his inauguration. They talk about replacing artists and writers and creatives as a feature, not a bug. AI is deeply conservative and it astonishes me that people who are opposed to the conservative project would rely on it so carelessly
Elon saying heβs going to reprogram his chatbotβs view of history is a perfect example of why these kinds of AI products arenβt the neutral βtoolsβ people always defend them as. Theyβre little political projects reflecting the ideologies of their creators
Just a reminder - I see a lot of griefing about this guy and his threats. Don't wait for the FBI to do anything about him (they won't). There is something YOU ALL can do about him. He has a podcast on Youtube. Go there and report him. Enough reports for violence will get him pulled.

Wait no, I am mad, because you know who did that work that people are using AI to skip? A WRITER. Because LLMs are just stealing the work writers actually do, scrambling it, and presenting it as original thought and research. Writers are still doing that work! Any emotional truth came from a writer!

LAPD issues dispersal order downtown, fires tear gas and rubber bullets By Rebecca Ellis and Ruben Vives Tensions rose downtown late Saturday afternoon as Los Angeles Police Department officers on horseback pushed back hundreds of protesters from the Federal Building, charged into the crowd on horseback, fired tear gas canisters and shot less-lethal munitions. The LAPD issued a dispersal order around 4 p.m., saying some protesters were βthrowing rocks, bricks, bottles and other objects,β but few in the crowd seemed to realize the order had been given. Within minutes, police had cleared the area and moved people away from the troops.
LAT here echoes what LAPD deputy chief said on KNX: Police claim some protesters threw rocks.
Let's see it. LAPD has THOUSANDS of bodcams out there. Downtown is blanketed in security cameras. Show. Us. The. Video.
Then let's compare it to the use of force in response.
Receipts must be checked. π§Ύ
The political assassinations in MN = domestic terrorism.
A reminder that the guy now running the DHS division responsible for combating domestic terror & targeted attacks is a 22 yr old with no federal experience, and whose last job was his own lawn mowing biz.
Dems should now be screaming this.
a photo grid of dolls with protest t-shirts and signs.
I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.
I wrote quite a lot about how the leftβs hateful rhetoric fueled the killings of the healthcare CEO and Israeli embassy staffers. Iβm going to either ignore this weekendβs assassinations in Minnesota or maybe write something both siding them.
People stay going to any and all lengths to excuse racists. We know why they voted for the party that accused people of eating pets.
The question is: why can everyone see it but you?
Generative AI is like a rash, it just keeps popping up where you don't want it, which is everywhere.
Job requirements for thee, not for me.
Trump is lying. India and Pakistan both say the United States wasnβt involved in negotiating the ceasefire.
