Some professors at the University of St. Thomas are doing a research project on the effects of the ICE occupation on Twin Cities parents. They're looking for parents who are US citizens, who live in the Twin Cities metro area, and who have kids ages 5-10.

Those of you going to the Emergency Bike Ride tonight, have a good time and hope you looked west on your way there.

Ran into the hosts at the back lot of Perennial while airing my bike up. Excited for summer.

I also do want a chance to be able to see the night sky and go to sleep at a decent hour.

Ok, much earlier than I realized ๐Ÿ˜…

I think as I get older Iโ€™ve become more of a homebody and would appreciate some darkness in the evening so I can get stuff done around the house. I prefer waking up when it is bright out. Though I will chase the occasional sunrise.

Iโ€™m probably in the minority that I despise DST. No, I do not want 10pm sunsets.

I moved out here for an internship with a local government to do planning things. This fall Iโ€™ll be looking for an internship for my social work program. Full circle?

People remember this skyway to nowhere, right?

Going through my photo collection as I put veggies in my crockpot and back up my hard drives contemplating the ideal internship for the coming year. I canโ€™t believe itโ€™s almost been 10 years since I moved here!

The app works on all Twin Cities bus routes, including MVTA, Southwest, Plymouth, and Maple Grove. The Go-To card would be more useful if you:
1) have an employer who administers Metropass benefits as they may match $ you deposit from your paycheck
2) ride Transit Link or any of the micro services

My entire journalistic career, editors & owners & bosses told me again & again that my stuff was too long, too in-depth, too wonky, no one would read it.

Again & again, readers flocked to the longer, wonkier pieces, passed them around, wrote me to thank me for them, cited them years later.

Re-upping because it looks like itโ€™s been showing up around downtown. DM me ASAP if you see it.

Itโ€™s my understanding that the newer New Flyer BEBs have heat pumps. Iโ€™m not sure if these have heat pumps or diesel heaters.

Electric buses are passing a brutal cold-weather test in Wisconsin Madison is proving electric buses can run through cold winters, providing a blueprint for zero-emissions transit in other frigid locales.

In Madison, on-route chargers seem to be making the battery buses run well. grist.org/transportati...

So if you're thinking of a day trip to Waconia, biking the Luce Line to Watertown and bussing back, or camping at Baylor Regional Park (home to Eagle Lake Observatory), it would be much easier to do so by transit compared to last fall.

Learned earlier this week that as of this weekend, people will be able to use Transit Link to get between Carver and Scott Counties. This is currently possible on weekdays, but they were not doing so on weekends when Carver weekend service launched last fall.

On moonshots and Minneapolis Space exploration can bring people together and reflect deep societal divisions.

I've been really struggling to write about space while living through the ICE occupation in Minneapolis this winter. I was shocked to find myself thinking, "Who cares about sending people to the moon?"

That feeling is more historically resonant than I thought. ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ”ญ

If anyone's been there you know how far apart the houses are spaced out there. Not as far as you think, though. It feels like a scene out of Smallville.

couple thoughts from an iranian american: 1) iranians in iran are being hit on all sides. their government has just killed them by the thousands, leaving them shellshocked and trying to save tens of thousands from being executed in the aftermath. many already couldn't afford everyday life..
